I was watching the news when celebrity David Arquette was interviewed. (He starred in Scream and married Courtney Cox.) Knowing that there were several other famous 'Arquettes', I decided to look him up to see just how many of his siblings were also actors. What I found surprised me. He was born right here where I'm living now, in Winchester, Virginia. Winchester is not a large city and was probably more like a small town when he was born, back in 1971. I learned years ago that 'Elaine' from Seinfeld (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) was born in Baltimore County. I was born and raised in Baltimore. Frank Zappa, also, was born in Baltimore. There are probably more because Baltimore is a BIG place. What is so surprising about David Arquette's birthplace is that Winchester really is such a small place and it's basically all farm country around here. Winchester usually produces farmers. But, there is a university here (Shenandoah University) so the chance of going somewhere with your life is a little better than most small towns because of that. So, are there any celebrities who were born and raised where you live?

The late Heath Ledger was born in Perth Western Australia and went to school near where I live. His family still lives here in a suburb south of the river. We have the Swan River which divides out city and it is common to hear people say that they live either north or south of the river. I live in the north at the moment. We have several actors and a talk show host that come from Perth but they are probably unknown to anyone outside Australia.

I currently live in Manchester, but my home town is Bolton, which is just a few miles away. The only person I can think of with a valid claim to fame would be Samuel Crompton, the inventor of the Spinning Mule which revolutionised the cotton industry during the 18th century. There have been numerous celebrities born in Bolton, such as Vernon Kay who presents the television program Family Fortunes, Amir Khan the boxer who won an Olympic Silver Medal for Great Britain and many more. However, it is so easy for people to become celebrities nowadays that the only person I would really consider to be of note would be Samuel Crompton.

I had no idea who was born in my hometown so I looked it up online (thanks for the idea mentalward! ) I was born and raised (up until I was 10 years old anyway) in the Bay Area (near San Francisco). Some of the celebrities that I found that were born there or near there are as follows: Mel Blanc Clint Eastwood Bruce Lee Courtney Love Alicia Silverstone O.J. Simpson (does he still count as a celebrity? ) Suzanne Somers As far as where I live now, the Sacramento area, there are only a few celebrities that were born here or near here, such as Rodney King and Molly Ringwald. There are a few others, but I never heard of them so I left them out. LOL

You know what, moon? My first ex looked VERY much like Johnny Depp. That MAY be a huge part of why I married him! LOL Well, at the time, I didn't know about Johnny Depp, I don't think he was into movies yet or he was awfully young. I just took one look at my ex and lost all my senses, including common sense! But, I did get a very handsome kid out of that marriage! I'll try to find a photo of him and post it so you can see the similarity.

Hello mentalward, When one thinks of the small islands of the Caribbean, one would not expect them to produce anybody famous, or any celebrities, as most of them are third-world, developing nations, agrarian in nature and lacking any significant industrialization. However my island turned out to be the exception to the rule, as it has produced two outstanding scholars. The first is Sir Arthur Lewis, who received a Nobel Prize for his work in the field of Economics, making our tiny nation extremely proud. He mainly focused on poverty, and made a famous statement that the cure for poverty is not money, but knowledge. Today we have named the island's premier tertiary institution (which I attend) after him. The second is Derek Walcott, another scholar who received a Nobel Prize for his work in the field of Literature, practically making our nation ecstatic that we are one of the few (if not the only) Caribbean countries to have produced not one, but two outstanding Nobel Laureates. In recognition of his feat, a section of the main city was renamed after him - The Derek Walcott Square (sort of like a town square with a beautiful - albeit badly maintained garden) in it. The two Nobel Laureates coincidentally share the same birthday, and so each year a week is devoted to them where we remember their achievements and contributions to the betterment of our nation. What makes this hit even closer to home, is that both of them passed through the same hallowed walls of my former secondary school! Thanks for sharing and happy myLotting!

Bon Jovi lives in the same state as me (NJ) and my little cousin and I met him. My little cousin used to play pop warner football, and i took him to one of his away games. The other team looked very wealthy and i asked the coach why, and the answer i got was "Bon Jovi's son is on the other team!" I was like are you serious? and the coach was like yeah. On the way back to the car, i saw Bon Jovi, i stopped him and got his autograph. Then my little cousin was so excited he forgot he even lost the game hahahah

You know the band Staind? They're from the town just over from me. Also, there's a country singer named Ashley Gearing *forgive me if I spelled her last name wrong* who is from the same area. One of our supplier's daughter went to school with her! Aside from that, I don't know! Great question tho. Oh, you know that movie In Dreams? I used to work for a hotel where all the actors & directors & such were staying at & 1 of my co-workers' granddaughter was an extra in it. Does that count?????
