I don't usually have so much trouble in the summers. I can take naproxin and in about 2 or 3 days i will feel better.I will feel much more loose and i a lot less pain. I just hate taking drugs for anything if I can avoid it! I heard that Ginger tea is good for joints. I drink at least a cup of it a day, but I don't really like it well enough to drink much more. I have been eating some cherries as I heard that would help. Anybody know of any more natural help for stiff, achey joints?

I have always thought that arthritis is painful swelling around the joints - is that right? If it is then anything with anti-inflammatory properties is likely to help - Omega3, flaxseed oil, green tea and many different things have these properties, even apples.

Ah! Apples!! I can do apples. I haven't found any green teas that I like yet. They are all bitter and just taste like yuck tea! I can tolerate some ginger teas though! I will have to see about getting some flaxseed oil! Thanks!!

the key to green tea is not soaking it for too long, they get bitter if you leave tea leaves in the water for too long... green tea requires some skills lol...

You could buy one of the at home spa treatment parafin waxes. what you do is dip your hands or feet in the wax and it does relive arthritis pain in the hands and feet.
I know that this will not ease the pain in your other joints but it is a little help.

Good idea to check with your doctor before making changes in treatment; they should be able to help you plan a program to meet your needs. They should also have information on alternative medicine and treatments.
Search the net for information, some sample sites listed below:

There are a lot of remedies, you'll have to figureout what works for you. Good luck.

Thanks for the information. I don't do doctors at all. Right now I don't have much of an income and I do not have the money, so I have to go it alone for now!! I will check out the sites you gave. Thanks and you are very right about having to find what works for me individually! I'll keep looking!

you can try avocado, they help too.. if you can get your hands on cordyceps hot water extracts it can help too. you can get them cheap on mushroomharvest.com that's the cheapest i've seen hot water extracts. also might want to try sound therapy, you'll need 30hz. my boyfriend got himself an ultrasound thing when he hurt his shoulders (thanks to the retarded doctor that doesn't know how to treat patients). another thing is magnets, if you can get your hands on magnets. magnetic therapy is great for joints and muscles

I did not know that about omega 3 so there are some good things that will be really good. I think there are some wonderful things that you can do for your arthritus although I do not know all of the things that you can do so I am going to be listening to others and see what they have to say about this.

Surgical removal of the causes of Arthritis infection will be the most ideal treatment of Arthritis as the surgical treatment makes the patient have his or her joints rejuvenated through surgical operations. Immune altering medications are often used to treat the defects of the immune system which results in the development of Arthritis. Cold pack applications comprises of a collection of several iced materials which can offer some temporary relieves against some Rheumatism and Arthritis. This form of treatment is a temporary one and it is most ideal while performing a first aid treatment on an Arthritis patient.
Splinting is a surgical operation which is used in treating joints and the cartilages. Paraffin wax dips are also used in the treatment of the joint and cartilages, they are good alternative treatment for people who cannot go under surgical treatments for arthritis.

Ice!! Are you crazy?? Cold makes my joints hurt more, so that doesn't make sense to me. Is there medical reasoning behind that choice? Possibly to fight inflamation? That seems pretty extreme... surgery that is. Wouldn't it possibly cause more damage?

macdingolinger,
You may want to include fresh cherries in your lists for fruits. My dad said that it has helped him tremendously with both his arthritis and gout.
Hope it will be of help to you too, here.
Take care and have a nice day.

I have arthritis and am unable to take anti-inflamatory medicine due to having only one kidney. My Dr. recommends walking (excercise) daily and recently they have come out with a study that Fish oil pills help arthritis by lubricating joints. Not sure how much study has been done but it sure wouldn't hurt so I'm giving it a try! Good Luck!

I may try the fish oil again. It did seem to help, however because it is an oil and I have no gall bladder, I dont' know how well my body may break it down! I may consider trying to take it again!ty
