Do you consider money saved as money earned?

I am a bargain shopper & I am honestly proud to say that because I am a stay at home mom to 4 children, so having a "real job" outside the home is not feasible for us, especially since my youngest are 3, 2, & 1. It would be pointless because I would spend all I earned on child care. So anyhow, I shop sales, use coupons, shop clearance, and shop smart. I LOVE to save money and it's very exciting to me to see how much I can save. I consider my savings as the money that I earned to help our family. Like if I go grocery shopping and I save $90, I consider that as I "made" $80 for that day. So my question for all of you is Do you Consider money saved as money earned or similar to a income?

I think it is good habits to save money. But I do not agree with you. Money earned like salary ,bonus etc ,than money saved can make more help your family. If you got a job with salary 4000 dollars, you can make your family live better. Because you must spend all your time on taking care of your children, maybe it is difficult to get a job with high salary. It is good idea to save momey, but it is not similar to a income, just a way of spending money.

I also like you. Though I am still single , I try to make savings in every puchases I do. I consider this savings as income. I can save it and use it as a capital for a small business. Or I can save it on the bank and let it grow thru the years. I try to be a smart spender ans a big saver to be able to achieve financial stability in the future.

Hi Wiggins, I agree with you, money saved is money earned. I go a step further. Some supermarkets and shops have those reward points system. I treat that as a kind of savings too. I will be able to redeem something when I do not want to spend real money that month. Even my mobile phone has the rewards points system, and I have redeemed certain points to offset the phone bill partially. It's really a saving.

I also believe that money saved is money earned. I don't make a whole lot of money and my family doesn't either. I need to make the most of every buck and by being clever and wise, concerning what I spend on and just how much, helps me to do this.

i think that saving money helps you to use the money some other time. but it doesn't equal earning money. they are two different things. saving money is controlling your money and arrangement. but earning money is something about your capibility.

Yup2x. I certainly agree with your notion there. To me, money earned is definitely money saved. I only make it a point to spend a bit of it, instead of all. Getting some earnings through online has helped to add on to those savings too. I like it for a fact that I don't use up all my salary earnings, if you get what I mean.. because at the end of the day, I know that I would be able to save too. Good discussion here.

I am a constant saver. I don't have kids, but I am a student and have a car to pay for, so I am constantly saving my money to pay for college, my boyfriend also lives in Sweden, so I have to save money to visit him once a year for a month at a time, and he also comes over here, I have to save up for the loss of income for that month as well. I save every penny that I do not spend on school and my trips overseas, it really adds up over time to use for a better day. I also use a lot of coupons and look for the best bargains instead of paying full price. Happy mylotting and happy saving!

Of course, a penny saved is a penny earned. In these times of recession, it is more so. You need to spend prudently and make the maximum of your spendings too. How??? simple, use those credit card which have the maximum time for your payment date. Also, consider using those credit cards which give maximum points for the same amount of spend, by comparing all the cards you are having. Also, go to the Malls on the month end, People tend to avoid Malls towards month end because of the Cash crunch and Malls tend to give greater discount around these times. These are small small things which go a long way in reducing impact on your wallet.
