Ever checked out "New User" tab?

Just curious, have you ever checked out the "New User" tab and seen the discussions they post? Many times if I don't see anything interesting on my main page with my interests and my friends, I will check out the "Hot" discussions or those with "No Responses," but, for the first time tonight I checked out the "New User" discussions. I noticed most of them have only posted one discussion and/or response, even those from a week or two ago. This made me realize just how many people join this site and forget about it. I am not saying all new users post one or two things and never come back, but there seem to be MANY MANY who do that. Makes you wonder sometimes... Why did they bother joining in the first place? Did they read up about what type of site it was first, or just blindly join??

hi beth, yes i do check the new user tab specially if i have a lot of time free to stay at mylot. but sometimes the people there no longer come back. they will even send a request of freind then after a few weeks or months they are no longer active. i am so happy to welcome new users and telling them that i hope they enjoy mylot the same way that i am enjoying it. lucky if i got a friend there who will still come back but most of them just stay for a few days and never show up anymore.

I check it everyday! I go to no responses discussion too. I just want to know about what discussion they made and I want to encourage them (new user and no response)so they will feel happy and like mylot, continue their contribution here^^,, Maybe they stop after started 1 or 2 discussions but they didn't get any response and bring them down. It's hard if you try and get bad result at the first time, so I always check and if there's interesting topic I'll response. Or maybe they ask by other mylot user to join but they're too busy to check mylot everyday or simply didn't find any topic that meet their interest.. or just like my bf who wanna join because I spend most time here but after he joined he just come 1 or 2 times each week. Hey, I've already told him about the site completely..

Some of them were forcely invited by other mylot members for them to get credits. I haven't been in the said tab.I will check it out later on. One major reason why they were not able to continue in the site is because they really do not know on how the site really works.Honestly, on my first day in mylot, I was also confuse. I do not know where to go and what to do. It took me almost two days to post normally. And another reason is maybe they don't find the site useful for them. This is my opinion about the topic.

Yes, I was confused when I first started, but I asked questions and read the TOS and Guidelines and such MyLot provides, and I explored around. After a day or two I knew most of the ins and outs of MyLot.

It's take times. After that, they will learn what to do next time. Need 1 or 2 days to familiar with a new site they have joined. I feel the same too at my first day at myLot and other new site that i have joined. Must find something in here and there, what to do next, etc...

Yes, one or two days to look around and explore I can understand, but not more than 2 weeks to make only one post is what I am saying...

well i never knew this feature existed and just had a look at it now :) I think it is the lack of knowledge and interest that makes the new users not actively participate in mylot. Like i had my friend here in mylot who helped me to get familiar with the site. But what if there was no proper guidance - i think i would have lost interest. So whenever a person joins as my referal i tell them to be active and respond to as many discussions as possible. :)

I have noticed this many times. We have many people who come here and only post about maybe 4 times and then disappear. They are either expecting more $$ right away with this site, or not too interested in what this site can really be used for. Personally I wish many more could give this site a chance, but at the same time I know personally I have like at least 20 on my Referrals who have never done anything here as well.

Yes, I know. Finally I quit checking that section out. I can't imagine how many people have joined, posted once, and never come back. Maybe they thought they couldn't earn enough, but they must not have much patience to be on here so short a while before quitting. Half of the time their discussions and responses are one liners anyway.

Think many don't know which interest groups to join for the type of discussions they want. I know I like to talk about money, and since I've been becoming IM friends with more and more Mylot people, we will occasional make it to actual topic of Mylot. Other day that happened and they asked what interest topics I'm a member of for money making, and it made me wonder. An hour later after going to page 20 in pretty much every interest group, I found I was missing out on SEVERAL solid interest topics. It can be confusing for people that take things to literal for them, and so they don't even think to check in that area. I also think many are so accustomed to the Typical forum, that when they get here and see this is more of a Discussion board and not what they are used to, they return to what they know. But to answer the actual topic, no I've never looked at the new user tab. Maybe I will more often.

I've checked it out before, its kinda funny to see what is their first step into mylot territory. Many of them are just asking for referals and I don't ever care to make them friends. Some are from foreign countries and they are trying to link between the USA and their home origin.

You are ture, sometimes we forget to notice the new users, to pay attention to them, to their discussions. They are new here, maybe not familiar with mylot, and we are a huge family in mylot, so we should help them.

Hmmm, I'm farely new. A few days old to this site actually and to be quite honest. I have never stopped in the "new user" tab. I guess I should make a point to do that. LoL I might learn something.

You know, I hadn't even noticed the 'new user' tab until you mentioned it. Thanks. Now, I did check it out and what I noticed was a lot of discussions that I thought, frankly, weren't that interesting; many were on the same subject - join under me to make money... and their English skills were, can I say, not quite up to par. I think I found one or two to possibly respond to today. Many of these users had 0 or 1 under their username; I'm assuming it means that they haven't responded to many posts. Therein is probably the problem - they're starting their own discussions before experiencing the discussions from the other end - that of the responder. I think if they had responded to more questions before starting their own they may have come up with more interesting questions and, as such, have gotten more responses. As it is, they probably get discouraged because with poor questions and responses they wouldn't be earning as much as they'd have thought - and isn't that why we all joined up in the first place? Now that you've brought that 'new user' tab to my attention, I'm thinking I should check it out periodically - to encourage the newbies that actually have some potential of making it here on mylot.
