Yesterday morning I gave some slices of bread to my husband for breakfast. I sperad both butter and jam on it. He some how forgot to eat it and was left out for one day. I packed for him as he left for office early. I am worried if it is has turned bad. I think it looks and smells okay. Can I eat it or throw away? I want an answer to make a decision. So please post quick replies.

hi nishdan i have to say a day is too long for the bread, especially when you have put butter on it, the butter would bring in a lot of moisture into the bread and the moulds would soon grow on it, it doesn't smell wrong, that means the moulds haven't come into the slice yet but still they are not exactly healthy.... although i don't believe anything bad would happen if you eat it, still a day is quiet a long time if you haven't stored it in the fridge, lol bread in the fridge...just throw it i say

Thanks for the discussion response. I ate it as some responded saying it is okay to eat it. However, 6 hours have passed by. I am just praying and hoping that I won't fall ill.

There should really be nothing wrong with it, bread is fine out, butter is fine out, and jams are pretty good out, nothing really goes wrong with them in a day. The only thing that might be weird about it is that the bread will probably be stale or hardened, giving it not a good texture. But if you have no problem with the texture it should not make you ill at all. If you have pets there might be pet hair stuck on the jam though

wow that is weird, sorry for the double post, when I posted this the first time it would not load, so I thought it was not working, so I copied it, added a little bit, and tried again. The 2nd attempt is shown first and the one that didn't load is this one, weird! But again, I am sorry!

I don't think it would hurt you. Might not be so good as when it was fresh but I don't think it will make you sick or anything. Try it...if it tastes good then go for it, if not then just toss it.

There should really be nothing wrong with it, bread is fine out, butter is fine out- my family leaves butter out for days because it is good soft, and jams are pretty good out, nothing really goes wrong with them in a day. Butter does not really go rancid, especially not after only 24 hours out of a fridge. In my family, and many other families I know do not refrigerate their butter, in Pennsylvania it is more common to leave your butter out to be used and with easy spreading.
