How do you focus writing your essay?

I know it's the summer, but I have several assignments and I have to finish writing my Extended Essay (4000 words research paper) over the summer and I just can't seem to focus. I mean that is why I'm on mylot.
Anyway I was wondering if all of you just write a whole essay in one sitting or write a couple of paragraphs and rest and then write more or how do you all do it? I need some motivation at the moment haha :P

not only focus but also good knowledge about the topic is must!
so gain more and more knowledge!!
