I don`t know who else to tell, I can`t talk without bawling. I lost my best friend today, my brittany spaniel named Jersey died today. She was almost 16 years old, and died in my husbands arms. Her organs basically shut down. My heart hurts so much right now. I know it will get better, but, today is a very bad day in my house. How do you deal with this. I have lost animals in the past and it never gets easier.

The loss of a beloved pet can indeed be devastating. I've lost several pets and have been heartbroken in the process. They are so much a part of our lives and though they don't talk in many ways they communicate their love for us. They are cute and funny and they share the good times and the bad times with us without a word. They are just there. When they are gone it's like a part of us is gone too. We should be thankful and grateful that we got to spend their life with them and we should remember the joy and love they gave to us. I hope your sadness goes away soon replaced by the happy memories.

It's been almost 2 weeks ago now, and I'm finally at the point where I can talk about her without crying. Poor little thing, I just visualize her happier where she is.

The best way to deal with it is how you are doing it right now..express yourself in writing and to people and however you can..Crying is in line..go for it..tears have a very healing factor.. it's natural.

You will certainly be in my prayers. I mean that because I know how it feels to lose a friend like that. It is gut wrenching and the pain is immense. Even thinking of the happy times doesn't seem to help. But as the days go by, the happy memories will bring you comfort. And perhaps later you can share that same joy you had with Jersey with another furry friend. The love you had for Jersey would be greatly desired by someone else. And it could be a tribute to Jersey, because as pet owners know, they are true friends, and they are a part of us, forever.

I am so sad to hear that. *hug* Losing someone that's important is something that will give you the most terrible heartache. Even though it is just a dog. But dogs are the best animal for me. Even you're mad at them they'll still play with you and wag their tails. They are excited when you're around. Knows when you're sad. Ahh~ they totally brings joy. I suggest that you might want to have a new pet? I know Jersey is the one that you like. But before I tried to look for a dog with the same aura or it has the same feeling I felt from my lost dog before. So you might consider look for other dog instead?

My deepest condolences to you. It is indeed a heart breaking news and I share your grief. I know it is very painful when our pet is no longer around us after so many years of togetherness. I hope you'll get over this sadness soon.

My other two dogs don't know what is going on with Mommy, I'm hugging them like crazy, it's nice having them close for comfort.

Oh I'm truly so sorry to hear of your furbaby loss. I've had pets since I was five years old, and am now 53...I've had a lot of furbabies in my life and it's never easy to lose one. While I have loved all my "babies" some stick in my mind more than others and still miss some of my former babies that passed on to rainbow bridge over twenty years ago

Oh Bonbon Im so sorry for your loss :( Last week my mother had to have her 15 year old Golden Retriever put to sleep. I was in the room with her when they did it and I was comforted to see that Rosie had no pain... she just slowly went to sleep. But it was still heart wrenching to loose a family member. I paid for the cremation for my mother because I felt it was the right thing to do. My mother made a locket and put some of Rosies ashes in it so that she could keep her with her wherever she goes. I'm tearing up just thinking about it... and my heart goes out to you in a BIG way. I promise you I will light a candle and say a prayer for your best friend. You know, I am a strong believer that when animals die they wait for us at the gates of heaven so that they can walk through with us. Just keep her alive in your heart untill that day. *hugs* Be strong my friend. She knew who her mommy was and she knew you loved her. Thats the most important thing of all.

Thank you, I like to think that all my animal friends are in a happy place running through fields playing, and I will see them someday. Thank you for your kind words. I'm saying many prayers for my little Jersey girl today.

i am so sorry to hear your sad news, but i think you can gather that all the lovely mylot crowd are sending love and sympathy to you. they did when my dear cat got run over last year. i have had a lot of pets, and in most cases they have lived a long and, hopefully , happy life. i was going to list the animals who i loved best, but realised i loved them all and there were some very special times that i remember them all by. so when you can , you will remember the special times and the happy memories and the little quirks that make all our animals so beloved.big hugsxx

Hello bonbon I am really sorry to hear of the loss of your best friend Jersey, I can really relate to how you're feeling. It is almost a year now that I lost my yellow lab Tyson and it still hurts pretty badly, especially when I am out walking and I some witha yellow lab. I know people have told me that it will get better and I am sure it will with time but right now I still feel as lost as I did on that day when he left me. Every once in a while I get some pictures out and look at them and it actually makes me feel better - I almost feel as if he is still with me. I still cry a lot but not as much anymore. You hang in there and cherish the memories. Think of the times you just sat and patted her or played ball or even took a walk. That will help you to heal and carry on. Take care of yourself. bajangal

a friend is the one who helps us in a need. a friend is like our famly member. moreover we casn say that friend is like one's real brother. one must keep in touch with friend with which one can spent a long time.a famous proverb"a friend in need is a good indeed."

I know exactly how it feels.... I'm so sorry... My house was a mini zoo till a few years back. I saw many of my best buddies die, but i could do nothing those days. Still when i think of them my heart is filled with tears. It will take time, but i hope you get over it soon. Take care.

I'm so very sorry. I've lost a few good friends in my life too. It helps to think about all the wonderful adventures you shared together. Eventually, the pain will fade. And when you're ready (you'll know it in your heart), you can open your home to another good friend.

Aww. I know how horrible it is to lose a pet. I have had a few of those experiences. But to lose a pet which has been with you for such a long time must be too distressing.. Hope you feel better soon..

Hi bonbon. First, i'm sorry to hear of your loss. I know how you feel because I've lost 3 dogs in the past - a labrador and two mongrels. It takes time to get over it, I know as I believe you've treated it as part of your family. Nevertheless, nothing lives forever - humans or animals. We're all mortals. Life goes on... Take care.
