Do you use a webcam during chatting?

Its my basic question .. I fought with my father for buying a costly webcam yesterday.. He told it is an unwanted investment... But I told "for me it is necessary"What do you think? Do you own a webcam? Do you think it is essential? In what ways it helps you?Let's lot now...

Dear kguru,
My son have a webcam, he won it from "Ironman"
movie contest! He hardly use it, I think it is
useful for chatting and if you have something to
show the other party in an instance!
My son netbook and my husband notebook have in-built
webcam, but they hardly use it too. Personally I do
not use because I am not comforable to let the other
party look at me, camera shy...lol
