For a long time the cost of gas was very high. Then the costs went down a little. Now the cost of Food has went up. Over the past year, I have heard people complain about both the costs of gas and food. I know nowadays, it seems like everything is priced higher and everything costs more. It is expensive to go and do anything or buy anything. So I was just wondering..... So do you think gas or food is more expensive? What you rather gas or food be more expensive? Why?

and i think food might be more exspensive because my mom food bill is way way higher than her gas bill a month. she has alot of mouths to feed thats why. and gas only goes towards one thing, the car and alot of people can be in it. and if i had to choose to buy gas or food i would live with my mom and choose gas then give her a little money for food.

Yeah, our food bill is pretty high at times. My mother has a lot of mouths to feed as well! We actually don't go many places and my mother's work is close so she doesn't have to do much driving, so our gas isn't that expensive. I haven't heard her complain about gas in a really long time. I have heard her complain about the cost of food though, more than once!

I think gas is more expensive. I'm in college and tend to eat on campus with the meal plans that my parents pay for so I don't go grocery shopping very often. I think gas is more expensive for me because more of the money for it comes out of my own pocket. I feel like there are ways to cut down your grocery bill and save more money on groceries than gas. Some stores are more expensive than others, for example. I feel like Harris Teeter is one of the more expensive grocery stores so when I get groceries I don't go there. I go a little further down the road to Food Lion. Also, you can use coupons to help you save on food but there are no gas coupons out there.

I see. We don't even have a Harris Teeter! Our Food lion turned into Bloom a couple of months back. We do our grocery shopping at Shoppers. We look for sales slips and coupons before we go grocery shopping. I also look on the internet at certain times. Plus you can choose cheaper food when you go grocery shopping.

We find that the price of food is going up. So far the gas has stayed about the same here, maybe gone up about ten cents a liter, but I notice that the food has gone up. Bread has gone from $1.67 to $2.67, cherries from 1.99 cents a lb to 2.99 cents a lb, yogurt from $4.43 to %5.43 and that is just a few examples. I have not priced the ground beef yet, but it seems that since the cap and trade, that even us Canadians are paying so much more for food then usual. I would rather have food then gas, because we do have to eat.

haha what's the point of me having gas if i have car at all. of course, food it's better because there are foods that are cheaper to eat than simply buying gas. i can eat with worth 2$ day if there's a small crisis in the house. gas is expensive, more than that. i don't need it.

Gas is very overpriced, I do not see food always being that way. Some fresh yes is expensive but frozen, canned or dried, they are not as expensive as fresh.

That is true that not all food items are expensive. There are a couple of things we always have in the house because they are cheap.

I live in Australia and here, like the rest of the world, food and gas or petrol as we call it have gone up and it appears keep on increasing! I guess gas is definitely more expensive because there are always cheap alternatives for meals like rice, pasta etc. Gas is almost $1.50 per litre here; I remember when it was just 20 cents per litre! Am I old or what?

I think the main culprit of this fluctuating prices of our basic commodities is the Gas. These includes all oil products. Every time the price of these products goes up it includes our basic commodities. This is the root cause of all the rallies on the street that seconded to political activities...Cheers!

Gas is too over priced... Food goes up and down all the time depending on the brand.
