I drink a lot of soda. I am trying to cut back. This august when school starts I will be in Cross Country. I need to start drinking more water instead of soda for when I run. I don't like water very much, but I will drink it anyways. What are some healthy substitutes for soda that doesn't cost much?

When you have access to a water boiler, get yourself some tea with a moderate amount of sugar if needed. When you don't, you could as well press some oranges and take that with you or add some lemon/citron juice to your water.

You deserve a huge pat on the back for getting of sodas. Sodas are one of the worst possible drink a person could drink. Filtered water tastes good, use a filter on your faucet or get a pitcher type that you keep in the refridgerator. There are flavoring packets that you can buy to add to each glass or bottle you drink, they are pretty good, Crystal Light makes them but there are other's. For the environment, don't buy bottles of water, the plastic and glass end up in our landfills. Get yourself one of the bottles that you can fill and carry with you. Good luck on staying away from sodas, you made a good choice.

Have you tried water with a little bit of lemon juice squeezed into it. I didn't like the taste of water either until I tried the lemon juice thing. You can also mix it with a little bit of your favorite juice, 1 oz. of juice to 8 oz. of water.

Drink some natural juices. Not that concentrated stuff that they add a whole bunch of crap to. But juices such as orange juice and fruit punch taste great and are a lot better for you than soda. Also vitamin water taste great and you get water plus vitamins.

Too much of anything isn't good. But you might try some green teas or something. You are still talking about a lot of sugar though. It still might help you break the habit! You might switch to juices too. You would want to limit how much of the more acidic ones you drink as they can cause you problems.
