Smoking in Public Outdoor places

Do you think that it is fair to smokers that they must stay in a certain area to smoke when outdoors at a Public Place such as an amusement park? Does it really matter where you are outdoors when you smoke?

I think they should have designated places to smoke, and I was a smoker for a long time. I never smoked in my house or my car because I can't stand the smell of it, and besides, you should NEVER smoke around children. So, I know some smokers may get offended, but there should be designated places where they don't offend others or get the smoke around kids. When I smoked I never smoked around kids, and if I was at a public place, I usually wouldn't smoke unless I could find a place it was allowed or where there were no people.

I don't smoke in a place where there's a lot of people especially if there are children around. I agree with the other one said that there should be a designated place for smoking. I think it is the smoker's discretion, if he/she is courteous enough, on where and when he/she should smoke.

I do think it is fair to have designated smoking areas in certain areas like amusement parks, etc. I know that smoke bothers people, so I try to respect that. My husband and I both smoke, but we generally don't smoke in the house or in the car when our kids are with us. Having said that, I think that we need some balance to accommodate non-smokers and those of us who choose to smoke. It's gotten to the point that many non-smokers make a big issue of it if they can even get a faint wiff of smoke! That is ridiculous! What about their offensive perfume? Or the offensive food that my neighbor may be cooking? I try to be respectful of others when I am smoking, but I want the same courtesy shown to me! After all, I NEVER blow smoke in their face.

I agree, I got very irritated because my husband and I went to an amusement park and there were only 2 designated smoking areas in the whole park, now I could understand if they were indoor or something, but no, they were outdoor on the very edge of the park, so if we wanted to smoke we had to walk all the way across the park, it was ridiculous, but nothing was said to people who didn't wear deodorant and had awful b.o. or anyone who wore WAY to much perfume/cologne
