Have you started Back to School shopping?

I'm pondering it as I know the stores are quickly stocking up on sale items for the big "back to school" shopping season. I'm going to start in the next 2 weeks looking for the great deals for their school supply list as well as buying extras so they can have them at home. I also have started a list in my head of what they will need like more socks and undies. Have you started yet?

I usually started around now. I saw some great sales in the summer and before they were in high school I could pick things up cheap. But then they wanted special notebooks and binders in order to be cool or be different, certain backpack types, etc. And I let them, cos I know how important self-image is in high school. But oh, what a headache!!

Yeah I"m glad my kids are too young to care for the most part But you are right they do need to "fit-in" even if they only get a few pieces.

We've gotten a few of my daughter's school supplies. Although, she doesn't need that many. She's only in preschool this year, and it seems like she doesn't need the typical school supplies. Most of the things she needs are already here in the house.

I sure am seeing them selling stuff - but I don't have kids so I don't have to worry about it

We just went and started a layaway at K-Mart on Monday. Mostly just supplies. I don't have any lists yet of what the teachers want, but I got basic stuff, especially those marble composition notebooks, you can never find them later in the summer or even after school starts!! So on top of basic supplies and my son's scientific calculator I also got them all their backpacks, socks, undies, sneakers, and each child got 2 outfits. That includes the 3 year old who may or may not be entering Head Start in the fall, I'm still waiting to hear about that.

Hi snugglebunnies, we've still got another seven weeks of school holidays to go, which must make it just six down so far. So no need to think about this yet. The school gives out a list of which notebooks they need, but not until they are already back to school, and it's usually very specific, such as 2 yellow notepads and one green one, and the list goes on, but all text books are provided new to each child and they keep them at the end. It will still be summer wear for at least another 8 weeks when they do go back, so apart from sports shoes the actual going through the wardrobe to see if any of last years winter clothes still fits doesn't happen for a while yet.

I've started the back to school shopping for the kids. I started to buy new school clothes a while back, but just recently started buying the school supplies. Got a start now but still a ways to go.
