When I was a little kid, my mother taught me that sticks and stones may break your bones, but names will never hurt you. I can remember repeating the same message to my children when they were youbg. However, in the 21st centure, it would appear the old saying is no longer true. I started a discussion to show my concern about bullying recently, and yesterday on the news, there was a story about a sixteen year old girl who took her own life. She was the fourth girl, in only six months, from the same school, who hed committed suicide. All these lives lost because of what others posted on the Internet. How can we stop this tradgic waste of young lives?

By supporting our children with whatever psychological principles we can. Teaching them the right path, coaching them on crisis management would help.

Hey edmiltw, I agree, and believe the problem needs to be addressed without delay. Thanks for responding.

Dear mipen2006, It is really sad to hear that this was the fourth case within 6 months! The world we live in was so much different from when we were living - free & simple childhood! There are many cases related to internet in Malaysia too, but they always used that to attacked political figures, so that they will resigned from their current post. It did quite a damage in political arena here! Perhaps we should advise young teenagers to be more tolerance and face the truth that life is not a bed of roses. That's life, but it's always easy said than done. Just prayed and hope for the best. Hope the Education Ministry, Youth Ministry and other Community/Society will take pro-active measures to curb all these from happenings!

Hi Iriene, it is very sad, and I hope our local State government does some investigating. This problem must be addressed, and now! Thank you for taking part.

I think both school and parents have to be more involved. Parents are busy and kids do what they want to do. Sometimes is too late to act... My best friend child was bullied at school, but my friend took an action by sending emails to all school officials and much as making a police report...

Hi pola, I believe you're right, it all starts at home, and carries into school years, and unless it's nipped in the bud, theproblem just balloons. More parents should address this problem in the same manner as your friend.
