I am not that too observant which always land me in trouble when I go out shopping alone in a foreign place. My sense of direction is zero. I had a fright of my life when I went out shopping alone in a busy street in Hong kong when I could not get back to my hotel. luckily my smattering chinese language enabled me to get a cab and tell the driver the name of the hotel am in. The next day I found out that it was only a stone throw from where I was but I was fleeced of my money on the fare. From then on I swear not to leave without a friend in tow who is street smart.

Before visiting a capital city I look at a map in my travel guide book. Then I pick my accommodation. When I am there without the map I am good at finding my way back to it after going out to explore. Sometimes I manage to find a short cut. In one town I stayed at there was a quick way to town through the grounds of a museum. I paid for the entrance because it was worth it. The museum was interesting so I looked around it. One time I went to Estonia. I got a map from the tourist office. Most of the streets weren't marked and I had lots of difficulty trying to find my accommodation. During that awful time a wheel fell off my toddler son's buggy. I spoke to a local parent to find out the best place to purchase a new pushchair. I had a challenging time with the language in Bulgaria and finding my way. My map had street names in my script but the streets were marked in the locals script. It led to much confusion.

I am not am it is more due to luck than anything else. If I have a map I can follow it well, but on my own I am lost. I'm not bad with numbers, not a wiz, but I do okay with them.

Hi zhuhuifen, I am excellent at directions and can find my way most anyplace without getting lost and also remember the way back. I actually believe that this is an inherited skill. My Father was excellent at finding his way anywhere, I inherited that skill, and my son was showing signs of it at just one year old and continues to have the skill now. But I know many people who are clueless completely regarding directions. My best friend could never find her way anywhere. My son's father had no clue of the way even if we'd driven there 20 times before. I see this in many people and really do believe it is inherited. Wondering if you think the same too on this Zhuhuifen?

I can definitely say I am good with directions. Everytime I go somewhere I make sure I remember it but most of the time I have an easier time finding my way without any pressure. At times though I am scared to wander around but most of the time I should have no problems findign my way home.

I'm not good at find directions and I always lost even in my own city. To me it's so difficult to memorize those streets and routes.

Im not good both finding direction and numbers. Might be need to study it more and cannot easily understand sketch or direction in the paper. I think it is the area or skill of one person to have it. Because I cannot handle it lightly oh.
