Ran My First 5K This Morning!

In 32 minutes! I was pretty happy with myself for the first one, since I was shooting for right around 30 minutes. I ran the entire time and had to pass a bunch of people, so I was happy about that. I was so worried about coming in last place, but I still managed to make the top half of the group.

Well, tomorrow I might be sore but so far I'm not. In fact, I felt well enough afterward to go to the aquarium! But immediately after crossing the finish line I felt more like I would puke, lol. Although a few minutes after finishing I was good and enjoying watching people get their awards for finishing in top places.

Thanks! I'm still not sore today and the bad thing is... apparently these things are addicting because I'm already planning for my next one and hoping that I will go below the 30 minute mark next time. But I don't see one near me until September. Unless I do the one in August that is rather unofficial and put on by some small group in my area. But then the timing will not be as accurate.

Awsome!!! I ran my second 5K this morning! I took my nephew with me...it was his first 5K. He got the running bug when he watched me do my first last month!! It's addictive I think!! Congrats!!!

Thanks! I hope you and your nephew did well. It really is addictive! At first I was swearing that I wasn't going to do more than one more of these this year. Then after I ran it I immediately wanted to do another one soon. But I think I'm going to wait until September to do another one. I'm going to try to get my friend to go with me too.

That is pretty good! I think one of my friends might run her first 5K when I run my second one. I'm planning for one in September now. I hope to shave off 2 minutes and 30 seconds so that I can go under the 30 minute mark.

a little late but congratulations to you!! I haven't run an official 5K yet. Don't see one in the near future. I'll be running a 10K in september. I ran a 2 mile fun run/walk for veterans in june and was hooked. How is your running going??

Thanks! Out here they seem to have a 5K practically every weekend somewhere nearby (within an hour away). But I have been looking for a 10K and haven't seen as many. Running is definitely addictive! Right after that 5K I knew I'd want to run more. It is so much fun running with all sorts of people. I think I won't really know if I can beat my last time until I get to the next 5K, because I don't always run as fast when I'm on my own or even in a group. But I'm hoping to at least beat a 10 minute mile in training before going to the next 5K.

Congratulations - it doesn't matter where you came as the main thing is you did it! And I could never do a run as it is just not my style so I applaud you for doing so!! x

Thanks! Yeah, my main goal was just to finish and run the entire thing. I was glad I was able to do it and didn't have to stop and walk.
