I LOVE last.fm!

For some reason I can not get Pandora to work on my computer. My Honey discovered last.fm recently and we are loving it! We are listening to awesome music from all over the world and I recently created an account so I could mark my favorite tracks and save them to my library. A few days ago I discovered Susheela Raman and Lhasa de Sela as well as Dhafer Youssef, artists I would likely not have heard of otherwise. My other half is stuck on Codona radio and this is where he usually starts out his listening. He is practising so I am listening to last.fm through headphones on his little emachine and working at my laptop. I just heard a very interesting rendition of "Whatever Lola wants" by Natacha Atlas. I asked for Souad Massi but they have been playing a whole lot of other stuff. Sometimes I am busy typing and do not get to "heart" a song before it finishes playing. The only problem is that the listings are not always correct. Right now the song that is playing is supposed to be included on the CD "North African Groove," but I have that CD and this song is not on it. We were listening to Codona radio the other day and they said something was Don Cherry but it was an artist playing saxophone! The music they do play is still good though and I am thoroughly enjoying my listening!

Interesting! I never heard of this before. I will have to tell my best friend about it because she loves ALL types of music. When I say music I don't mean the rap stuff. She goes from country, to rock, to classic, to jazz, to anything that has a beat without direct spit. LOL

Um... direct spit? Do you need a napkin? What the heck does that mean? I listen to a lot of music from Africa, Brazil, Portugal... all over, really and recently I have become more interested in music from India. Last.fm is great for finding music similar to what you already know and like.

By direct spit I mean the rappers that do their own noise effects. Although, they are very talented she isn't into that type of music. She loves things that are flowing, with a quiet beat.

I have heard of last.fm. I remember when Napster was free, I would go on the site and listen to music all day. Then We had limewire, now though it's a bad program... so we don't use it. You can find some great music online though, and it's always fun to listen to something whilst mylotting. I can't say I have actually heard of any of the artists you mentioned though .

Hi, I had used that site some years back and you can listen to lots of music but then did not log in anymore. I prefer to download the music I like and listen to it on my media player. Recently I downloaded iMesh, there you can also listen to songs and download some of them, even watch music videos. Have a nice day!

I download music too sometimes, but in order to get it, I have to know it exists!
