For a long time, I would take a Benedryl allergy pill before I went to bed ,because otherwise I would wake up with a stuffy nose and claratin was getting too expensive to take. Benedryl makes me very drowsy and would put me to sleep, well recently I stopped taking it, but now I have trouble falling asleep . How is your sleep as of late?

Why did you stop? Did your allergies get better? Maybe your body needs time to adjust to falling asleep without this "sleep aid"? Did you sleep fine before you started taking this medicine and began having allergies?

Someone advised me that it could be harmful to my asthma, make it flare up...and I am sure you are right about adjusting, its just a pain in the behind right now .

My sleep is okay. I have a bad back and often wake up several times a night even though I take Tylenol PM before going to sleep. It sounds as if your body got to used to taking the Benadryl and the Claratin and is missing it. Hopefully that will change in the near future and you can sleep well again

The only time I have trouble sleeping is when I don't have the correct pillows. I like a nice big stack of pillows, more pillows than most people would have, and I like them extremely fluffy. I stayed in a motel earlier this month, and the pillow in the room was horrible. There was only one, and it was FLAT!!! I could not sleep that night.

That is a good point and I do need a new pillow, before with the Benedryl, I would just clunk out, hell i could have had my head on a rock and still would have slept but my pillow is weird and lumpy, I need to go to Wal Mart and buy a new one, thank you for reminding me .

It could be that your body got used to taking benadryl before bed. When this happens your body just needs time to adjust. If this doesnt work you can always try melatonin, an all natural sleep aid. You might also have too much on your mind before you go to bed.
