Hi friends, when I reached 100 posts I was given a 5 star rating, and this increased to a 6 star within extra 40 posts, then suddenly I was given negative points when I participated in the Religion forum and it came back to 5 star. Later, I do not remember when, but it was once again raised to a 6star and that is where it stays in spite of getting numerous best answer rating. Why is it so? When will be my rating upgraded? Any tips on how to increase my rating? Your valuable help is needed.

You are absolutely right, my rating went down, when I had a heated discussion on religion. Dont you think this is absurd. If some one does not agree with others views, they must not give negative points. I have never given negative points to others, even if they wrote against my views. Well that is the way the world operates.

Its because people want their opinion not to be challenged so they can raise above the rest. Its a pretty strait forward thing...they want to be right and down with anyone that challenges that. so instead of taking opinions that people post they neg rate them and then attack them...in some cases heartlessly to make them feel like their opinion doesn't matter and that they should just be quiet unless they have something to say that supports what they want to hear. Yeah...i stay away from those discussions now as they don't want to really have a discussion more then a pride boost

it so happens here at mylot is that some people rate you negative just because you differ in opinion, this mostly happens when you post on religion and politics section, if you want a nice star then better keep away from those topics like some of us do...

I started responding in religion, so that I can learn something. I have learnt a lot about my religion, in the last few months than I did in so many years. You win some, you loose some.

i was 8 and went to 9 within days i was 10 -- i kept it long up there -- and once i joinned religion it dropped down to 7 -- i kept my self away from religion until now i am at 9
Now in religion i only discuss at Hinduism topic .. non others

Sanjana, so many people have written badly about Hinduism, but I never gave any negative points for these people. We all had a lot of heated discussion in the religious forum. I think this is one of the main reason why so many people who were so active in religion forum have stopped their discussions. Well it is a loss for everybody.

When I first got my star I had a 3 and it stayed that way for a bit then went to a 4, and I had that star for ages, and I thought I would always have it, and I really didn't worry about it. I just laughed about it, but now that I realize the ratings affect our earnings, I hope that I can get mine up, but if I don't, then that is okay too, as it is a 9, and I am very happy about that. The only thing I can tell you is to just continue what you are doing, stay out of the ones that are controversial. and ou shouldn't be rated negative, however, that is no guarantee, as there can be users in any category that can rate you negative. I don't rat negative, as I think that is mean and vindictive. I rate positive so that I can help others keep their ratings up. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

It happens here with most of us... Try keeping you out of political and religious topics, where we do get negative ratings, if our opinion differs. Try making some good friends having similar intrests and participate mutually in the discussions. Hope your star rating goes up slowly.. Best of luck..

Hello,
well, first of all you have to give more positive idea to all of your respond, otherwise it will go up and down. Im sorry to hear that but people here just rate by how they feel, not what you think. I used to get 9 at first and then 8 and then 9 again. My goal is 10 but it took me almost all years to get to 10 and seem like it never happen at all.

I think it is better to avoid any discussion that might give you or risk your star rating :) The best way I think is to be active and have quality posts and giving valuable information to people as you will get rated and will have a high number in your star :) For me I would not worry about it as it will go up if you are active and try your best to avoid negative posts that you think might affect you or your points.

I am considering myself unlucky as I was having the 6-star rating for 100 responsews and till then I have not been getting better even if I am giving good comments or good discussions.
