me, i am not a smoker...but i have tried it when my age is about 18-20 something like that...i try it coz i saw most of my friends that time smoking and it looks like they really enjoy it...and they feel like they are "cool" doing those things...and so i try it and ask them to teach me...but i am not good on it coz i don't even learn how to puff properly...and i just ended up coughing and coughing...but still there are times that when my friends are smoking they are giving me too...and so i am pressured to smoke also...but one is too much for me... now, after i experience that, i don't really enjoy it...and i am thinking what makes a person likes it? and why some even get addicted on it? my father is a chain smoker then, he can empty 1-2 packs daily...but now, he laready quit smoking...for what reason, only he does know, but i think maybe because he already feel something with his health...but i'm happy that he already quit...as in totally quit! they also say that smoking is bad for our health (which i also believe) but why is that my grandmother is still healthy and don't have any sickness and still in good health? when she is a smoker herself? she smokes 1-3 pcs per day i think and she started smoking when she's still young...and now she's almost 70 but still smoking! huh! what do you think? you? have you ever tried smoking? at what age? do you like it? are you still smoking till now? or you want to quit already? thanks!

haha =D I'm a ex smoker but i have quit now ^_^ I too try out of curiousity and also wanna act cool, just like my frenz.. haha =D It's normal for 'newbies' to be coughing upon their first few puffs because of the inhaled smoke.. hehe ^_^ As long smokes for a long time, it's no longer an addiction, but rather a habit ^_^ Thus u see, the older one gets, the more they smoked, is because they have already gotten used to the 'highs' of each stick, so, they need more to achieve the same 'highs' like before ^_^ Smoking does not necessarily make one unhealthy, just like your grandmother.. haha =D I"m also very healthy when i'm a smoker.. I can only outrun my non smoker frenz, clocking an impressive timing for my long distances and short distance runs.. lol =D It all depends on how one wants their health to be.. Being a non smoker does not mean they wont die from lung cancer as well.. Though, being a smoker increases the chance, but all man are meant to die one day right?? lol =D

haha =D The reason as to why i quit smoking is because of health reasons, but rather the price of cigrattes getting too high and expensive.. Imagine one packet of 20 sticks costing at least S$10 which is about 5USD?? lol =D If i were to be smoking one pack per day, and i will be smoking away 150USD per month!! Well, there's no actual right way of holding a cigratte as long as u feel comfortable with it.. hehe ^_^ Maybe u are not meant to be a smoker and u should feel relieved upon that.. haha =D NOn smokers can still be frenz among smokers, and that does not mean u have to smoke in order to be part of it right?? Real frenz wont encourage u to smoke.. haha Yeah, becoming immune is as good as being able to stop smoking anytime, if she really wants to quit.. NOthing is impossible in this world.. haha =D We all have choice ^_^

Yeah, that's the main reason as to why i quitted smoking.. haha =D BEcause it's not good for my pocket in the long run, especially if i'm out drinking with frenz as well.. hehe I did try smoking because of the reason like u do.. hehe ^_^ I was curious about how come they are always smoking.. PLus, i do 'envy' them for being able to take a break furing work, as and when they like, whnever they wanna smoke.. haha =D In the end, i just pick up the habit of smoking, and i found there are alot alot of advantages being a smoker!! haha Seeing woman holding cigrattes are sexy?? lol =D NOt to me though, because it makes them look a bit too 'vague'.. haha =D U are asking your younger cousin to teach u to smoke, when u are supposed to be stopping her!! haha =D Smoking has become a habit to her, and it's hard to get her to stop now.. IT's more like a routine.. haha =D

ah okay i see...but when i am still working i don't really feel that difference between smoker and non smoker! hehehe coz usually we all have the same time of breaks...and on those times we do whatever we want to do...smokers smoke and we the non smokers eat our snacks! hehehe don't really make any difference for me. i don't have a chance of telling her the bad sides of smoking coz i know that she very well know that...and whenever i say her those things she will just laugh and will tell me that i am like her mom...hehehe just too bad that she's so adventurous and rebellious...and nothing good happens to her...she didn't finish college and get pregnant...get married at young age and now is separated...i am so sad on what happened to her... i think if that does not happen to her, she could have better life...she's pretty, taller than i am, nice body and most of all...very nice skin tone!

If you don't smoke, then that is great. Try not to follow the crowd, or friends. What they are doing is something that makes them feel "big", and it is not something that is wise. You can be big, without smoking and doing what your friends do. I am telling you the truth. I started out when i was very young, and now i wish that i had never smoked.

That is right. I did start smoking many years ago, and wish that i had not ever started. Smoking does cause health problems. The thing with smoking, is that once you start, it is not that easy to quit. I have tried several times, without success, to quit. I will try again though. I hope all eveyone else reads this, and does not start smoking.

Hi ck! Incidently no one smokes in my immediate family, therefore, I never felt an urge to smoke. I know that smoking does not serve any purpose and it ruins one's health later or sooner. I do not like the smell of smoke and if someone is smoking, I try to distance myself from him/her. One day a gentleman asked me in a party - 'Do you smoke?" I replied - "No, I do not smoke, I fire."

I was also smoking when i approached my teenage but later i feel that i personally dont like smoking i am only doing it for a fashion trend so then i left smoking and i am happy with it now as concern to health my doctor friends told me that in fact it depends on how you use things if you smoke responsibly and with care then it will never hurt you but if you become a chain smoker and smoke in excess then this will defiantly harm your health.

hi, i am a regular smoker.i smoke a lot every say, about 8-9 cigg. per day.i started it at the age of 18.i think that everythink has a time to start.one should ot start smoking at an early age.when i smoked for the first time i had cough,so i dint do it for about a month or so.but then i did it again, this time there was no cough, that lead me towards the second time and slowly i got addicted to it..

I've never tried it nor have I ever wanted to. I think that it is a pointless thing. I had one friend who was always trying to peer pressure me to do it. It was extremely annoying and I did yell at her a few times about it. I don't know why it was so important to her. She was kind of a weird person. The majority of my friends do smoke. It has always been that way ever since about the age of 13 or so and so of course everyone else always assumed I did too. Even if they have never met my friends they thought so, having to do with the way I dress. Black baggy clothes. I hate stereotypes. Everyone who I do know that smokes have told me that they are trying to quit, or should quit, etc. and hell I figured I'd just skip the trouble of the starting part and go straight to the quitting. Anyways, I understand why people start smoking. Of course a lot of it has to do with peer pressure, but that's not the sole reason. People just never know what to do with themselves, especially when they are nervous and since smoking is calming and something to do, it only makes sense that people would turn to it. Another reason I've heard from many people is that when you first start smoking it gives you a light-headedness sort of high that can according to some people goes good with drinking. Some people have told me that they only smoke when they are drinking. I don't know if there is any scientific truth in it, but people believe it and the placebo effect can be mighty powerful.

Well the thing is most of my friends have never tried to peer pressure me into it. Most of them said good for you when they found out I didn't smoke. Most of peer pressure isn't really about your peers trying to get you to do something, just the feeling of not fitting in with them is what gets people. It's kind of a strange and ironic thing.

haha..yes yes...i realized it now, sometimes our peers didn't really pressure us...we just pressure ourselves and wants to belong and be fit to the group...

well sometimes that's really a problem, that we are judged base on who are our friends...but anyway i am impress at you that you did not let your friend pressure you from trying to smoke... maybe some people really find something 'good' or a good feeling while they are smoking...well again its good for you that you choose not to try it...and so you don't have a problem of quitting! hehehe thanks for that share!

I did smoke when I was younger. I guess I thought it was the cool thing to do. I would NEVER do it now. It is a horrible habit to get started with and I hate when people do it right in front of me. It sticks in my hair and on my clothes like no other. I cant wait until bars go nonsmoking in October. It will be amazing.

Yeah I am from Montana. All the bars are going to become nonsmoking in October supposedly. So I hope that they do. It does get a little gross. And its not fun to have to go home at 2am and take a shower when you hae been drinking because your hair smells so bad that you have to take a shower to go to bed,

I was too a smoker once during my college days at 19 till 21. After that I quit. 'Cause it makes me addicted to it. I felt nice at the time I smoked and after that I sufffered with coughs. So quit. It's very injurious and also made my mind dull.

Just because it doesn't show yet, doesn't mean there is nothing wrong with your grandma. The bad effects of smoking will eventually take its toll on anyone's body, no matter how healthy you seem to be. I never tried smoking, not even once. I considered it a blessing that I got pneumonia when I was young and since I know I have lungs that are a little weaker than normal, I don't want to take the risk of making it worse. I do not see any positive benefits of smoking anyway. If ever I would be tempted to smoke then that would be because of peer pressure, but then again, I don't think I want to die young just because I wanted to feel that I "belong".

I began smoking when I was 10 and I still smoke. It is a very powerful addiction and yes it is unhealthy but I have so far not been successful in quitting and staying quit. I've been lucky in that I have had no serious health problems as a result. I'm 53 and know that I'm pressing my luck. I have cut back thanks to the high taxes our government has placed on them but even that is difficult.

Yes, I've tried it before too, and like you I only tried it because my friends were smoking and I thought it looked cool..lol. But of course, I never got the hang of it either, and it just made me cough and feel sick so I never tried it again and I never smoked and I still don't. I hate the smell of it, it makes me sick just smelling it. Yes, I think its bad for your health, it can cause cancer, and there probably are people out there that have smoked all their lives and aren't sick, I would just say those are lucky people. It still doesn't change my mind about smoking I'm still not going to do it.
