Which legit ptc sites do not require you to give out your personal information?

July 26, 2009 8:51pm CST
There are a lot of ptc sites that ask you for your full name, address, and/or phone number when signing up. Why do they need your address if they are not going to send you a check but pay you through online? What do they need your phone number for if they are not going to call you? It doesn't make sense. I do not feel comfortable giving them my personal information. I'm scared they will sell my personal information to other parties or misuse them. But there are a few sites that do not require new members to fill out their personal information except for their payment information, such as Paypal and Alertpay, when signing up. Do you feel comfortable giving out your personal information to them? Why do some ptc sites require you to give out your personal information while others don't?

I am not sure why he needs our information and what they do with it, but if we ask them, I can guess the reason. They need to identify their members and make sure there are no duplicate members. Anyway, you can fill the name whatever you please, also for the address and other information. You don't need to give the real one. They won't show up in front of our door to deliver the cash with a big loving and cute smile :) oo I forgot, except for the PayPal and AlertPay address need to be real.

Yes it is just for an excuse so they can request your personal information. Since the payment is using paypal, they don't need any personal information. For the fake one, I don't think they can check whether the address is fake or not, unless they want to knock every members' door :)

Well, lots of scam sites require this because they want to collect your personal info and can track you and might email spam to you. If you want legit and paying sites, you can check out my profile to find some really good ones. My rule of thumb is to join ones that have lots of members, and that have been online for a long time. Try to run a research on them with the word `scam`in it , to see if it comes up. Some of the good sites will take longer to reach payout, back you are backed with peace of mind you will get payed when you reach it.

The biggest reason that these sites ask for your personal information is for TAX purposes. They need to keep track of how much they are paying to who, for the IRS or whatever tax collection agency is in their country. Also, if you make over a certain amount of money annually they have to send you a tax form for your taxes. I can understand feeling uncomfortable about sharing this kind of information. If they say they do NOT share it with third parties, and you find out they do, you can take legal action. As with any other deal though, be sure to read your terms and conditions, and keep in mind that those are A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT. Cheers, hope that helps and best of luck in your online earning ventures.
