I used to read a lot when I was a kid. I am fond of crime thrillers. My favorite detctive novelist is Agatha Christy. Now, I spend most of the time watching TV and browsing internet. I think I lost the passion for reading. Do you have a passion for reading? What is your favorite area of reading? Do you prefer e-books over physical books?

i love to read, in fact i love everything about the reading experience. the anticipation of a new book, the settling down into a comfy position to begin reading, sometimes maybe with a coffee close at hand, sometimes with my headphones on. i love physical books, i love the feel and smell of them. all books smell different, the older ones have a great smell, that smell of aged paper. i love to read so much that i can have 3 or 4 books on the go at the same time and just alternate. hey i figure if you can keep the storyline of a drama or soapie on tv then well reading is pretty much the same. i love to read in bed before i go to sleep, sometimes i have been so engrossed that before i know it it is morning. me and my friend nate used to have reading parties, we read a 32 book star wars series story, what i mean is the whole story spanned 32 books, we would read them one after the other, he would usually be ahead then he would pass the book onto me when he was finished and in between we would discuss. ahhhhhhh good times. my most favored genres are science fiction and horror i will delve into a mystery or two but my first love are the 2 afore-mentioned genres. i love going on a mind trip for hours on end, that is how i feel about books, they take your mind on a journey and exercise the imagination and transport you, well only the really good ones have the power to transport you to another universe or another place. sorry i am gushing now....

I have an interest in reading, from physical books to e-books. The books that i love to read most is general information. Visual basic programming includes too, and about science book. Mostly i read every time i feel i want to read. Bedroom is one of the favorite place, because i prefer to read while laying down. Any place too that i can read while laying down is okay.

As for Mathematics reading, i am not fond of it and i avoid reading books in Mathematics. Laying down is not tiresome for me that i prefer it than sitting. Maybe it depends on the preference of person, because my cousin can not read comfortably if she is reading laying down.

I prefer to read by laying down too, mostly in bedroom. Sometimes I read books and listen to music at the same time. My subject is Mathematics, but I am not too fond of reading Math books. I read more of history and fiction. I also read general books and easy going books. Thanks for the response.

Definitely. I like to read both Fiction and Non-Fiction, alternately. Lately, I'm being inclined more towards the spiritual arena and have been reading extensively on the matters of within.

My favorite area is definitely my bed. Ideally, it should have been a spot in the nature - but since I live in the city limits I will have to rule that out for now. My Preference is always the physical, tangible books - but I'm used to reading ebooks as well. It wasn't very pleasing on eyes, but I've come to terms with reading books on the computer.

i used to have a passion for reading before i had my son but now i do not have time to sit and read so i rarely do. i used to read novels all the time but now i limit my reading to agazines and even then my time is limited. when he is grown and i am all alone i will need my books to keep me company once again but for now having him is so much more fulfilling.

I can understand how difficult it is for the mom of a little boy to find time for reading. If you are working, you will be running short of time all day. I know that it requires a lot of time and energy to take care of the kid and you hardly find time for reading. Also, as a mother you have to take care of other reponsibilities like cooking, cleaning, taking care of the husband. I hope you can get back to reading once your son is grown. Thanks for the response.

Me too losing the passion for reading. Used I like sidney sheldon, John Grisham and Tom clancy, I can read the conspiracy book, but cannot watch movie about it. But because books are too expensive, I prefer ebook now, as I can get it easily. But currently I prefer to read about personal development, and writing more about my experiences. But when I'm travelling and while waiting I like teh feeling of having book beside me so that I know that I'm not wasting my time by looking around and day dreaming only.

It is easy to go for ebooks. One important thing is you can download many e-books for free from internet. But, I don't somehow don't feel that comfortable in reading ebooks. I have lots of friends who have shifted to ebooks than wasting time by buying books or going to a library. My eyes hurt after reading it for sometime. Thanks for the response.

I never had interest or passion to read, when I was kid I do not used to get time to play :(, after I grew up used to chat with friends online and studies. Now office go home, come and do some online earning and sleep. But I have read one story written By Sidney Sheldon "The memories of Midnight" that was a fantastic story which has romance, thriller, drama everything. I love to read Sidney's creative stories but no time. Once I get familiar with these online earnings will try to spend some time on reading his books.

Hi daliaj, I think we have the same hobbies. I enjoyed reading when I was a little kid, I read most of my father's books secretly because he didn't think those books are suitable to me, but actually I could understood them more or less, when I grow older, I could understood what the books told me gradually, and I grow older and older now, because of internet and movies, I lose interests to books, because everything now is rapid, I don't think I have the leisure and time to read, all I think about is relationship and money. But I still read, for work and sometimes for leisure, e-books. On computer or on telephone. I like detective type, the author that you mentioned, Agatha Christy, I like her too. And I also read detective novels of Chinese and Japanese authors. Thanks for your post, it reminded me of my childhood of reading times.

Hey my friend, you are exactly like me. When I was a kid, my dad never allowed me to read his books, but at the same time he spent a lot of money for getting comics and autobiographies and life histories for me and my sister. I still remember a book about Jawaharla Nehru. My Dad used to asked me questions once I am done with the book. I like Jeffry Archer too. Thanks for the response.

I am not a regular reader of books and novels. But i love to read travelouges and places of historical importance. Apart from that, i never have the habit of reading novels and other stuffs and I used to admire people who have a passion of reading books, novels and other stuffs. However i used to lot of books that are written about the World wars and mainly about Adolf Hitler and the cause of his downfall. Apart from that I dont read books that regularly and infact I have never read even a single page of J.K.Rowling's Harry Potter. That is my position when it comes to reading books and novels.

I used to read a lot of history and politics books when I was in college and was preparing for IAS examination taking Politics and History as the main subjects, but after sometime I dropped the plan due to some special situations. I am also not fond of Harry Potter series. I have many friends who are fond of Harry Potter and Nancy Drew. Thanks for the response.

I do spend much time with pc and internet but still when i get some book to read its only book and me then. I just keep on reading till my head starts aching LOL. Occasionally i do read e-books but it hurts my eyes a lot so i prefer physical books.

I love reading and can read anything from a kid's storybook to a thriller novel. I had the habit of reading before going to sleep. But with televison soaps gaining popularity my good habit of reading has be replaced by watching tv before going to sleep. But i make it a point to read whenever i get time. As said earlier no favorit as such but can keep reading any type of matter available in my leisure. I also love reading blogs and articles available on net too.

So, I don't prefer that. I like fiction too, but business and financial planning are not my cup of tea. I am a Math graduate, but I am not much intersted in reading Math books. I don't really enjoy rading ebooks too. I would prefer to have a physical book in hand and read it. It is nice to find somebody who is fond of reading. It seems you are a serious reader. I just stop reading if I find that it is not that interesting at a later stage. I think I need to utilize more time for reading. Thanks for the response.

I share a passion for reading too. This passion started at a young age with my mother reading to me everyday as a baby. Im greatful that reading was valued and encouraged in my family. During my primary school days I was quite shy and unsocial and so I spent almost every lunchtime in the library. So quite quickly I became quite a fast and well read reader. Sadly now im college/university I have less time to read although I still enjoy curling up in bed with a good book every now and then. Most of the books I read are textbooks. I don't know why but I spend more time on the internet and watching movies then reading for leisure. In saying that I prefer a good old fashioned physical book over e books. My favourite types of books are those that span a few different genres. E.g one that could be classified as mystery, drama, romance, action. Two of my favourite genres are historical and dectective. I also love books based on true stories, many of which can be quite inspiring.
