How do you earn money on Twitter?

I have not yet joined Twitter but after talking to someone when i was out the other night they said that their friend is on there and he only do Twitter as a job and he earns big bucks.Is this true as i think there woulkd be alot more people doing that then going to work.How do you actually earn??

i have heard that people get paid on there i have been looking for how sofar no luck but i'm still looking.

I have not joined twitter. I just signed up for myspace yesterday. I am just learning about these.
