I just started working out again, after a 6 month stretch of neglecting it, and I am more sore as ever! I almost couldn't get out the bed this morning because my legs and arms are so incredibly sore. It was so bad I almost pick up my cell phone to call my mom and tell her to come over and drag me out of bed....now you know that's bad. So what are your remedies for getting rid of soreness?

Well, you are sore now, and so you will probably just have to be sore for a couple days until your muscles get accustomed to working out again. Always stretch before any activity-that can loosen your muscles to help avoid over-exertion or even pulling muscles. Take a warm bath with aromatherpay and candles!! Half of this pain is in your mind-believe it or not, and you can trick yourself into feeling better my pampering yourself. Good luck, and let me know!

Soreness means your body is adapting to the activity and building strength..right?? Fortunately, there are some simple ways to reduce the discomfort of exercised muscles. Use ice to reduce soreness and discomfort. Apply ice for no more than 20 minutes every hour. Apply heat by using heat pads or sports creams. Heat will warm up the muscle and help to rid it of tightness. Perform light stretching to prevent tightness and maintain flexibility in sore muscles. Stretching also helps warm the muscle and flush out lactic acid. Lactic acid is a byproduct of exercise and contributes to muscle soreness. Get moving with some light cardiovascular activity. Walking, light jogging, cycling or using cardiovascular equipment are great ways to warm up your muscles, without exerting too much energy. I hope this will help you. All the best. Get well soon.

i just started working out myself, and i found working through the pain is the best way to do it. i would not go overboard, but i would recommend that you just stick with it. and little by little you will not be so soar. a nice hot bath is a great idea as well
