over the years, computer price getting cheaper and cheaper. From the early 90s, the computer price might start up to over $1,500. After 10 years, a regular desktop might just cost around $500 with all the features you ever wanted. Even with laptop, nowadays, it can be as cheap as around $299; an acer laptop you can found on microcenter advertisement.
After the collapse of Circuit City, best buy might gain more market share on electronic devices. For competitive reason, Wal - mart recently revamps its electronic department, and focus on cheap computer sales. In the next couple of months, a netbook laptop might cost as low as $100 to $200. While those warehouse club also engage on this price war too. The benefit always our consumers. So, you will get better deal computers all the time. That is good news!

Hi clorissa123,
If you talk about the same computer (brand and specification) then yes...it is much much cheaper now then 10 years ago. But you only buy it if you can be patience with its slow and lame processor. When we put consideration on which era we were in and with the technology improvement on that computer plus the increment of the price, then it is still the same for me. They are still too expensive for the average people.
This thing is more complicated when we consider everything going around us like recession where people prefer to spend their money for their necessity like food or something is more important then having a computer with super high technologies. Because of the time and the surrounding economic situation and value for money, it is still the same for me. $1 for 10 years ago have a same value for $10 now.
Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

This phenomenon is widespread there is more and more competition. The prices have gone down drastically but in some aspects so has the build quality, most modern computer are not as robust as some of the traditional expensive computer which could basically tough it out. I do find it amazing, to tell the truth these discounts are tempting, whereas a few years ago having one computer in a household was something special now due to the reduced prices it is not uncommon that every member of the family have one and they become more a part of our lives.
The funny thing is that those old computers that cost 3 times more had 10 times less technology, even some cell phones can outperform those old computers. This is the principle of mass production, make one thing that is unique worth a fortune, make a million all the same their price drops with each one. There was a movie in the late 90s I think were they searched for the 99dolar computer as an elusive dream, well it seems that the way things are going it will be a reality.
