Tommorow I will have a background check and drug test done so that I can student teach this fall. I do not mind it because I feel that it is one way to keep students safe; but it got me to thinking. Should volunteers in schools have to be able to pass a background test before they can help in schools? What about parents of students who want to assist in the school? I think that they should but that only serious crimes should be consisdered. What do you think?

You ar eprobably right on that one! I hadn't thought about it too much before. It is pretty easy to check the registry to find sxx offenders in any area of the US. THat should be done at least. Maybe on anyone who works with your kids...

I live between 2 districts and one of them requires that anyone who enters the building to have a state issued ID and they swipe it through a machine that checks only for registered child preditors. If you come up as a preditor then they escort you out in cuffs. The other school distric does nothing. That is another reason I have been thinking about it.
