Well, my husband and I are getting cable tv again after not having it for over a year. Can anyone give me suggestions on good shows to start watching that are not on network TV? Our favorite network shows are The Office and House, if that gives you an idea of what we like. Thanks!

I highly suggest a new show that just started up on SciFi..whoops, pardon me SyFy (they changed their name recently) called Warehouse 13. It is an hour long drama, but with some funny aspects to it, much like house maybe. The premise is as follows: Two FBI agents got in trouble for some reason or another and are being "Punished" by being sent to some off the beaten path place in south dakota called simply, warehouse 13. This is a warehouse where the government stores all kinds of funky artifacts from the past, many with odd supernatural powers of sorts. The caretaker of the warehouse is hilarious, and each week they wind up having to hunt down some artifact that is being misused in a criminal manner. very cute, funny, and entertaining, with enough of a drama aspect to keep it from being too corny. New episodes are on on tuesdays night at 10 p.m. eastern time. But like syfy does with all their shows, it is re-aired at many various times throughout the week.

Hmmm, that sounds interesting. I'm not normally into anything SciFi, but it can't hurt to try out this show. My husband will probably really enjoy it. We got the DVR with the cable, so I'll probably have it full in the first week just trying all these great suggestions. Thanks for your response!

I absolutely LOVE my DVR! I prefer to watch TV this way so I can see the shows on my own time and fast forward through the commercials.

I too love House. It's one of my most favorite. I have never seen the office though. One show you might like is called strong medicine. Similar to ER or House and I like it a lot. http://www.tvguide.com/tvshows/strong-medicine/100419 Here is the description from TVguide.com Two headstrong MDs---privileged Dana Stowe and tough Lu Delgado---reluctantly join forces running a women's clinic at Philadelphia's Rittenhouse Hospital. Patricia Richardson scrubbed in for the departing Janine Turner in midseason 2002. Richardson's Dr. Andy Campbell is a retired Army colonel who's every bit as opinionated and self-assured as the headstrong Lu, making for an interesting matchup. Season 6 begins with Rick Schroder joining the cast as Lu's new partner, cocky physician Dylan West.

Since they canceled that show a few years ago, can one still get it on hulu.com or maybe through netflix?

Oh, you've got to see The Office. It is hilarious! It is not a show I would have put on the TV by myself, but a friend insisted a watch a couple of episodes when I was over. Now I'm hooked. I love Hulu for the shows that have been canceled.

I enjoy In Plain Sight on USA, I think on Sunday nights. My parents really like The Closer on TNT, and it comes on Monday nights. It stars Kyra Sedgwick, and she actually got nominated this year for an Emmy in that role. I don't recommend Saving Grace on TNT, which stars Holly Hunter. I really don't. I don't watch the following show, but based on your like of The Office and House (2 shows I do like), I think you might Royal Pains, which also airs on USA. It is in its first year, and is getting great ratings. As for anything else, Project Runway airs on Lifetime this August. I try never to miss it. It's actually a reality show I enjoy.

Ah yes The Closer is a good one. Kyra Sedgwick definitely shows her strength in that show. She's a very good actress, and everything seems to fall in place with the other actors on the show as well. Great recommendation.

Thanks! Those are some great recommendations. I had forgotten about In Plain Sight. We watched the first season on DVD and really enjoyed it. I will check out The Closer. I've heard of it but never gotten to see an episode. I do like Royal Pains. Well, the one episode I saw, anyway. I get to see a lot of TV shows one time because they are free on iTunes, so I check them out. I'm not too much into reality shows, but I'll try anything once, so I'll take a look at Project Runway. Thanks again for your response!
