For those with limited options or those just in general that want to answer, on a scale of 1 to 10 how worth it is getting sattelite internet, and why do you say that?

I would rate Satellite 1 out of 10... price is too steep for a service that potentially can give you the equivalent of asymmetric ISDN with high latency... considering the typical domestic DSL service with a contention ratio of 50:1 and Satellite with a contention ratio of 400:1, a fully saturated 10Mbps pipe would give each DSL user around 25KB/s... the Satellite link, however, with a downstream of 40Mbps would give around 12KB/s... and that's just the downstream... if there's no other solution, then OK, score satellite internet 8 out of 10... ^_^

It's Dialup VS. Sattelite, basically.

10 - Totally worth it! I live on 20 acres, 10 miles out of town, so my only option was Satellite or Dial-Up...there was NO WAY I was going to waste time and money on dial-up! I pay about $90/month for my HughesNet, but I'll tell you what, it's worth EVERY Penny!!
