My computer was running pretty slow, and so we called in a technician to see if there was any problem with it. He told that he had to change the drive or something and upload a new one. He did the repair work and after he left, now my system is just about the same speed but its getting turned off every 15 minutes and its gets restarted again. What do u think might be the problem with it?

dear friend if there is any dust in your ram this type of problem will arise so just clean it and then slow is due to ram capacity only and not because of your drive ok just upgrade your ram thats all

If after cleaning the ram contacts..The problem still persist ..change a new ram.. That should solve the issue.. unless the mainboar is totally gone.. Good Luck

If the PC didn't have the turn-off problem before the technician came, then it's the tech probably had made a mess of your PC, which means you've to get him back and tell him the problem. This time watch what he's doing. If the problem happened after his visit, then it's either a virus or a hardware problem. I had the same problem with an old PC once, and the problem was bad power supply. After changing it, everything was normal, so you might want to check your power supply first if it's an old PC. Sometimes it could be a sign of faulty hardware - memory chip, motherboard etc. It's hard to troubleshoot sometimes. If a problem has never been encountered before, even a tech needs to do things by trial and error to diagnose the problem before fixing them. Go get your tech again. Hope this problem will be resolved soon.

Maybe the tech gave you a recycled harddisk that was in poorer shape than yours... LoL... Assuming I replaced your harddisk with a new one, and there's no issue with the OS installed... did he install the motherboard chipset drivers? Also, check the CPU fan to be sure it still spins... the slow down could be the result of SpeedStep dropping the speed of the CPU due to excessive heat which can be due to a faulty fan... and if after dropping the CPU speed there's still too much heat, a thermal shutdown saves the system from frying itself... which could also be configured to just restart... Another problem could be the PSU not supplying enough juice to the system...

You might be have some viruses running on your computer, you should install some anti virus. And if possible you should prefer trying to reformat your computer. By the way what OS do you use? Cause before my system was too slow because I am using Vista Business, so I downgrade my system to XP, and everything is alright now.

Best thing to give a new life to your pc is to format it ,Upgrade it,Protect it. now a days fast generation technology requires really excellent hardware,so if you are with old hardware then your new software will make your systems crash or slow down 1.increase your ram, 2.Install antivirus 3.Defragment your system once in month so that all files which are spreaded are gathered and stored in right position 4.Clean your hardware which is very important ,just think what happens to your body if it is not cleaned daily. thats all i think so .
