Food product made of the liver of a duck or goose that has been specially fattened by force feeding . This goose are fed with "corn boiled with fat" as it is believed to induce fat in the liver (more than normal)
What the Goose goes tru - during this period
- livers swollen to many times their normal size
- impaired liver function, difficult breating due to expansion of the abdomen
- death if the force feeding is continued
- scarring of the esophagus (due to insertion and removal of the feeding tube scratch the throat and the esophagus)
- exposing the animal to risk of mortal infections (wounds at esophagus).
I am not saying totally do not eat animals (chicken/fish/lamb/beef) but cant we just kill them straingt away than putting tru so much of suffer ??

Hi there!
It really sounds very disgusting and repulsive that animals are treated this way for making delicious delicacies. I think it is extremely cruel to treat the animals like it and if possible, this practice should be banned.

Hi Sanjana,
The process of forceful feeding is called gavage and the end product is foi gras…one of the most delectable delicacies of Europe. I of course have never tasted it, but its said to be a gourmet’s dish and very much sought after.
Recent protests about the ways the geese and forcefully overfed and its consequences, have made many European governments ban foi gras from their country. Old habits die hard you know, and remember all these techniques of processing and killing animals for food have been ingrained as part of the culture of the countries of their origin so its very difficult to change people’s views overnight. But a beginning has been made and one day we might as well find foi gras peeping out from the pages of our culinary history books.

hi sudip ..
i have never tried it either, i never heard of it until i saw the papers yesterday and they even showed the pictures .. my boss was actually telling how delicious the dish was ...
why dont they just kill the animal like normal and eat what ever is there ... rather than putting it in so much pain .. it is not even able to tell its pain to us
cheers

Hello my friend sanjana_aslam Ji,
Unfortunately we are pure Vegetarians without even Onion /garlic, have no concept to eat any of the animals. We are happy and my hubby is over-weight by taking some leaves/milk. Why at all eat them, when there are many better options available.
May God bless You and have a great time.
