Do you believe in heaven and hell?

I am not religious and I am proudly an atheist. To me I don't believe there is a higher power or any type of after life, and its mostly due to the fact I would rather live my life now how I think I should live it then to live in in fear of the future or to live it trying to figure out how the Earth was first created. I also because that religion has taken over the world and is the root to all of our problems. You can see it in the middle east and you can see how much of an issue it has been playing when it comes to gays and lesbians being able to marry, abortion laws, etc. And the reason I think atheists are getting higher in number as well as gays and lesbians is because finally people are beginning to think for themselves instead of just following the norm. I don't hate people that are religious and I don't have any problems with them, I just think most of them need to really establish why they believe in whatever they believe instead of just saying oh its all faith etc. And Christians/Catholics are actually more likely to harass an individual that isn't religious and shun them then an atheist will due to a religious being. That I find hilarious given the 10 Commandments "love thy neighbor".

Hi justbeingtiffany, I don't believe in heaven and hell in the traditional sense but I do believe that we are spiritual beings having a human experience. I think that very likely reincarnation is true and we keep coming back here until we have progressed enough to move on to the next dimension. Although reincarnation is in the Bible, that is not why I believe it because for as long as I can remember I had a feeling within me that it was true. I think that everyone has this knowing within them that there is more than what we see here, although some have buried it so deep in their subconscious that they don't know it exists. I don't think it matters at all what one believes and I am spiritual not religious. To me life itself is prayer and actions always speak louder than words. Remember always that there is nothing to fear. Blessings.

I don't believe in Heaven and Hell. but asking this question will not give you an accurate idea of how many people are religious. I am religious but do not believe in Heaven or hell. similarly, if you want to find out how many people here are religious, would you ask how many believe in Valhalla, or how many believe in reincarnation? asking if people believe in heaven and hell will only give you an idea of how many Christians there are here, not how many people are religious.

I don't really believe in an actual heaven and hell. The place we learned about in Sunday school, etc. Golden gates in heaven, continuous fires in hell. It just doesn't make sense to me. I don't think (if there IS a heaven or hell when we die) that it will be anything like that. I am a Christian by the way, but even as a child when they described it that way, it made me doubt they knew what they were talking about when they taught us religion in that way (and we don't know really - all we can do it believe what we feel to be true).

Hell - I do not believe in scare tactics used to coerce someone into your religion, or else you will burn for eternity! Heaven - In a sense, Heaven sounds like a wonderful place, where we would all like to go after we die. It would make us immortal and we could live forever! But all evidence I have seen points to it all being made up. I would love for it to be true that I would live forever in a great peaceful place, but I just can't bring myself to believe something I know is not true.

Tough question you got here. I am a roman catholic, and i do believe in God. But for me heaven is life it self and when we die it is hell. I say this because i really don't know what happens after life. So every morning that i wake up, i make it a point that each day is cherish. =)

I don't. While I do tend to believe that we all have a soul - that part of us that makes us "alive," I don't believe that it just goes to some other plane of existence forever, never to be seen again. The reincarnation idea is a curious one, and one that seems to make more sense to me. I grew up Lutheran, but I can't say that I ever felt right about it. I had my doubts all throughout childhood, and learning more about the Christian religion through Confirmation only solidified the doubts. I also like to believe that all living creatures have a "soul" of sorts. I don't think we can become trees or insects in other lives, but rather that we stay within our respective groups. For instance, we would always be mammals of some sort. Birds will always be birds, reptiles and amphibians will always be themselves, and so on. We may be different species, but we will still be in that group. Of course, I have no idea if that is true. But it is fun to think about.

i was brought up in a catholic family, and sure i believe in heaven and in hell.. when i was in highschool i started reading the bible from cover to cover and when i became a college student i got converted to born again christian. my belief is still the same that heaven and hell are true.

I believe in a Heaven, where I will spend eternity with the God that I chose to have friendship with on this earth. I will be blissfully happy! I also believe in a hell, but not in the sense where there will be fire and brimstone as an everlasting punishment. I believe Hell will be a place that is apart from God, and the yearning to be with him, is what Hell is all about.

I truelly believe in both i believe in heaven and hell, I believe when you die god takes you through hell before you get to heaven if you are chosen to go to heaven, I believe he does it to show you how it would of been for you if u wasnt chosen to go to heaven, I believe in the lord and i believe when we die we can also stay on earth if there is unfinished answers, I always have been a believer in both. I believe that when you go to heaven its a new whole life, you don't remember your life you lived, its peiceful, I believe if you go to hell your life you lived of all your sins keep on flashing in your eyes why you are burning enternally thats my belief.]

I believe in heaven and hell. I think if we believe in God, the good and the bad, then definitely there is heaven and hell. It reminds me of the quote "Everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die"

yeah i do believe in heaven and hell.my faith says they exist and i ve all faith in it.some ppl do say both hell and heaven are on this earth itself.its just a trailer of ur sins/virtues.the actual punishment or enjoyment happens finally there in heavens n hell.

yes. i belive there would be some place called heaven and hell. so we have religion to be a good man or bad man. i always tell myself never do anything harm to anybody or will suffer the retribution later. if anyone have this on their mind then the world would be more beautiful and kindness.

I don't think its a matte rof religion of something realted to that. I have replied to this questions a several times here in mylot(or realted questions). for me, they therez no places called heaven or hell. These are just imaginary places where we wish/don't wish to go after we leave this place. These are mentioned in several religious books, that the life at earth is just a short stay and you have several stages to go and the life here at earth is the shortest one. I believe these are mentioned just to guide you thorugh the right path and so that you do only good deeds because you fear about the happenings in hell. SO all your deeds will be aligned to that and you alwayz do good things Everybody wants to go to heaven. Thatz the rule.

for me as a roman catholic i believe in heaven and in hell because when i was a child for about 10 yrs old and i had high fever on that time, i saw my spirit running so fast but then i also saw my physical body lying on my bed and i was weak. but i had no choice to run away from my body because a big, hot rolling stone ball was hunting me. when i cried out so loud for help i saw an angel and held me up in heaven and then i walked up.. my father hug me so tight when he saw my eyes opened but the question was "why my feet and my panjama were so dirty" and my parents were very sure i didn't even stand up in my bed for a week.

I think it's a possibility, but a slim one. I don't believe in heaven or hell in the christian sense, although I do believe there is an afterlife. What that is I couldn't say. I have always been intrigued by the idea that hell is earth, and we're ignorantly trying to get into heaven, while we're already stuck here in hell.

No one really knows if theres a heaven and hell.. but for me I want to believe on that theory for the reason that still we separate the good ones and the bad.,, just to be simple that if your doing bad things definitely when its your time already you will throw to hell..so maybe or maybe not still you have somthing to be afraid of..... thats my logical analysis...
