Sunday afternoon I went to one of our local parks here in Jackson, Michigan - Ella W. Sharp Park. The 530 acre location where the park is was donated to the city of Jackson by Ella W. Sharp along with her family farmhouse and a sizable amount of money with the stipulation that it be used for a park for the citizens of Jackson. It's a beautiful park with flower gardens, rolling lawns, museums, ball fields, golf, fishing and miles of trails for walking, hiking, or biking (in winter snow skiing). I love spending time at the park and feel refreshed after spending a few hours there taking pictures and doing some people watching. I've uploaded several pictures I took Sunday to this interest - ella sharp park. Ok, I put it under 'Places I would like to visit' even though I have been there many many times - but always enjoy going back. I hope you would like to someday visit:) Do you have a park or parks that you enjoy visiting - I would love to hear about it.

The only park I go to is the one up the road for Gissi to run round on without his lead of, he loves it lol But there is just a Childrens Park there fenced of and then a massive Area of Grass The actual Parks that I would like to visit are to far away and I would not be able to take little Man with me so I would not go as I do leave Gissi on his own for hours on end lol, I would be in bad books then I am glad that you had a lovely time though

Well you and Gissi need to visit Auntie Faith - my two favorite parks Ella and Cascades both allow dogs (on leashes) but have areas where they can run free too.

Hello my friend, I am glad to see ( read ) that you had such a good time in one of your favorite places. Parks are really a relaxing place and I enjoy them as well. I love the ones where I can ride my bike while being surrounded by beauty. I don't really have a favorite because most of the ones that I visit more regularly are wonderful and I would have trouble choosing one.

Oh you would love Ella Sharp Park - flat areas and rolling hills and miles of bike trails through beautiful woods and even along the river for a bit.

We have several parks in our town. We don't have any parks anywhere near as big as yours, though. We met for the first time at the one by the courthouse downtown. This is the park where the person that our town is named for has a statue of him on his horse. His name was General James Birdseye McPherson. We live in McPherson, Kansas. Has anyone else got a park that they enjoy visiting?

We have several parks in our town, one other is nearly as big as Ella Sharp Park. I plan to next weekend spend some time there taking pictures. My goal is before the end of summer visit every park in the county but I doubt I'll succeed - we have a lot :)

I looked at your photos and can see why you love spending time there. I especially like the little waterfall. I want one in my backyard. (Of course, the fact that my little backyard has no room for one, doesn't matter: I still WANT one.) The park I go to most often because it's just two blocks away is generally referred to as The Brow. It's a strip of public greenspace along the mountain brow (escarpment) overlooking the lower city. Lots of people walk it daily, with or without their dogs. I've even seen someone take their cat there (on a leash). There's nothing spectacular about it other than the view. There are several other parks along the brow, such as Sam Lawrence Park on the way down the mountain. It has flower gardens, an open pavillion where public music events are sometimes held, and of course the rock face. I'm told wedding parties go there for photos.

Me too - love waterfalls, this one is actually man-made and part of the miniture golf course but I could sit for hours and just listen to the water falling over the rocks. I did have one, very small, in my backyard at one time, sunk an old bathtub in the ground surrounded with rocks from the yard and used a circulating pump to run water up to the top of a pile of rocks at one end. Your parks sound interesting, I am particial to flower gardens :)

Well since I don't have a car I can't really get to any parks--although within a few blocks from me is "Moore Park"--nothing like the park you're describing (which sounds great)----it has a handball court, places for sitting, a sprinkler thing for kids to play in, swings, jungle gyms....the land though that this park is however, used to be the homestead of Clement Moore...the author of "T'was The Night Before Christmas"--too bad they tore down the home though ages ago..they should have kept it as a historical site

Oh what a shame they tore down Clement Moore's home that would have been a neat thing to see - the home of such a famous author, could have even created a small library or reading room to encourage people to 'read'. The small park a couple blocks from me consist of a couple small flower beds, a little playground equipment and 2 benches to sit on - not much but is well kept and a surprise in the area of town I'm in. Jackson is nice though as the city bus does makes stops at several of the larger parks such as Ella Sharp so people who don't drive can still enjoy them.

i love going to the parks ever since i was a child. we used to live in a place where we are close to the military barracks and there was a mini park there, me and my sisters and some friends will always go there and have a little picnic and play. unfortunately now, here in the place we are living now, there is no park in our town not even a small one, or playground where my kids can play.

Oh no, I can't imagine living in a place with no parks and your poor kids not even a playground to play. We have dozens of parks and playgrounds in our town - I guess I am really lucky... I have 2 playgrounds within 2 blocks of my house where I live now - not very big but my grandkids love them.

We have a park here that I love to visit. It belonged to Mr. Baldwin (can't remember his first name). We call it the LA Arboretum even though it's far from Los Angeles. He donated the property, which include the many gardens, his landmark home, stables servant quarters, and lake. Don't really know how many acres there are but it takes a tram ride to see the whole place. Entrance used to be free but I think they charge now. They've filmed quite a lot of movies there. Fantasy Island and Power Rangers to mention a few. Anyhow, I really love just sitting in the gardens and read a book.

I went to a different park in our area today, about 20 miles from my house, but went just to get pictures for an article I'm writing on the park... it's really really small in an even smaller town but not many people know about it and it's very 'unique' - I took my pictures yesterday then just sat in the grass on a hill and did some people watching (there were actually a few there - usually the park is empty). Also did a video of the stream but now don't know what to do with it :(

I also have a park here.It is very big and beautiful there is a play area for children and a grass area for rest.

Sometimes I enjoy just packing a lunch and going to the park to set, relax and watch other people in the park.
