I just realized that I may be lactose intolerant. I get backed up and bloated with gas it seems whenever I eat ice cream or have milk. I am not sure that the meat I consume is also part of the problem. I wonder if the lactain tablets really help. And if they don't, what are other options for dairy consumption?

There is lactose-free milk. My dad and one of my brothers are lactose-intolerant, so we often have Lactaid brand milk in the fridge. It basically tastes the same as regular milk, just without the lactose.

Actually I find that the Lactaid tablets really do help. I pop a few right before I have something with dairy, and I don't have gas, bloating or an upset stomach. You need to take at least 2 for them to be effective, and up to 4 depending on how MUCH dairy you will be consuming. They're expensive, but for some things (like cheesecake!) well worth it.
