The inside of my ear is itching and my aunt thinks pouring oil in it would help. What do you think?

Yes it might help but if the itching does not go within 48 hours of pouring oil you should consult the ENT guy. Usually it can happen if you have infection or u have hurt yourself while cleaning your ear from the inside, so do not take it lightly. Get professional help before it turns ugly. A stitch in time saves Nine!!

Hello,rose2789, if you feel itching because there has some insect in your ear, that method will help,I have tried before,as the oil will kill the insect, because the insect can't breathe then~~ But there are some sickness with your ear, you'd better go to the doctor then and don't risk~~

Hi Rose! I have this problem before and I cleaned it with cotton buds and I accidentally push it too hard and it cause me an ear infection, so please be careful when you try to clean it. You can buy antiseptic drops or any other ear drops in the counter/chemist and maybe just ask them what you can get that would help your ear. I'm not sure about the oil because I never tried to use oil! I've heard from a friend that she uses hot water, but there's a right temp and procedure to follow, but sorry I don't know.

I think you need to put few drops of warm oil and it might help. If it doesnt stop after applying oil, consult doctor.

The last time I had an ear infection I was told by a doctors receptionist to pour a little bit of olive oil into it. i didn't try it because I was unsure but apparently, I have been told it works. I went to see the doctor and it took about 4 months to clear up so maybe I should have tried it!

try to clean it first with water with peroxide and a cotton bud. if it doesn't help arround 6 hours after than go to the doctor. About the oil i never hear nothing. but if you will try than put on a cotton bud, and than gently clean. somebody wrotes than no more than 1ml, but 1ml it is really too much. enough only 1 drop, max 2 drops, because if you put too much oil you will not hear and an ear will make more earwax.
