How do you iron a shirt? I don't do a good job about ironing a shirt but I like to see when it is all flatened and nicely ironed. There are information on some internets that show you how to professionally iron a shirt, I have to go check it out! So do you know how to iron a shirt? Who taught you?

I am going to assume the shirt has buttons. First lay the shirt across your ironing board and fold it as if you are going to button it, second start ironing one side then the other. Do each individual sleeve draping it over the ironing board, when you are done with the sleeve turn the shirt around make sure that the shirt is closed on the front and iron. If you don't have an ironing board you can use any flat surface and a towel, and use steam for stubborn areas.

Hello Ivy. Nice to see you. How are you today ? Yes, that's some thing I can do. I do my own laundry, and do ironing too. I can iron shirts very well, but cannot fold. I would just hang it after ironing. I need to have it folded when I take it along when travelling. For that, I have to take it to a laundry shop to get it properly folded.

I learned how to iron when I was in 5th grade, my mom taught me. I even own an iron and board. But I look at it as one of those things that I can do but do not have to do. I try to only buy clothes that can be put in the dryer and so when I wash them I can take them out of the dryer quick and they do not get wrinkled.

Hello mermaidivy this is checkmail and often do ironing to my all clothes, mostly many shirts and hankerchifs.I also do like to iron the clothes, as the laundry press is not good enough it gets spoiled in the way to home. Also ironing of clothes saves me some money.Ironing of clothes on a height is always beneficial for getting a nice ironing.

I know how to iron a shirt. In my country ironing people are there who will iron a shirt in a minute. So, sometimes during the peak hours in the morning our people will give the shirt to them for fast ironing. I have watched it many times. Its really a great job done in the morning busy hours. Cheers... Have a great day...

My mom taught me and that was one of my jobs. When I was growing up we hung all our clothes outside....and so they needed to be ironed. I would usually have to spend quite a bit of time on ironing....so I do know how to iron a shirt.

Nope honestly I don't wear anything that needs ironing. When my oldest joined Scouts I wasn't sure how to iron on her patches, nor did I even know where my iron was. I haven't ironed anything since the 90's when the silk shirts were in style! *LOL*

I'm not good at ironing my shirts and pants even with the ironing board, but still, I'll do it when my wife's too busy to do it for me. It takes longer for me since I'm not the expert, but the job gets done, and I've a nicely pressed shirt for work the next day. No one taught me how to do it; I learnt by observing how others do it. The same goes with cooking :)

firsyly shift the Knob on the cotton level so thaty it provides aequate heating for any type of cloth,Then just atrt strokink the iron to and fro in a straight line and hold some markings so that u get a perfect crease.Happy ironing

I use to iron my own clothes. I think I can manage well with ironing. My mom taught me ironing when I was young. I have a habit of trying everything that I can try so even ironing I always wanted to try but my mother never let me touch it as it can be dangerous for kids (se as a kid I never realised that it can be dangerous for me :) )

My Mom taught me to iron. I used to iron Hubby's uniforms, he was a Corrections Officer for the state prison. Thankfully I don't have to do it anymore. I find if I hang things up right away I don't need to iron. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**

I had never ironed a shirt until i went to one of the Gulf countries for work. This was 25 years back. In my country and city we have people who iron shirts and trousers for a very small fee. They come from villages and start their business and most people give them clothes to iron after washing them at home. When i went to the Gulf country i found that ironing was very expensive and i found that most of my colleagues had bought electric irons and were doing it themselves. I too bought one and after observing how they did it learnt to iron my shirts and trousers and also my undies. I had almost mastered the technique when after 4 years i returned to my country and much to my relief, as now i was not required to do the ironing anymore. So thats that.

I do not iron shirts in a professional manner but I have devised my own little system and my shirts come out nicely. I avoid ironing by drip drying most things, it works a treat!

Hi mermaidivy, I know how to iron shirts but it is a another loathsome chore and luckily I don't have to do it very often. One of my friends has just started taking in ironing to supplement her income, I don't know how she can bear to do it. Anyway ironing shirts is why the ironing board has that curved bit at the end so you can start with the shoulder bit.
