Who does the marketing? Husband or wife?

I dont go to the market to buy fish, chicken or anything for the kitchen. My husband does it. He'll go to the market, twice a week, and I'll just wait at home for him to bring back the chicken, fish, veges and all. And I'll clean them and arrange them nicely in the kitchen. I've even forgotten how a market crowd looks like these days as I've not stepped foot in a market for a very long time now. What about you? Do you go grocery shopping yourself or you get your partner to do it for you?

For me, my mum will do the marketing and when she brought back the stuff, I be the one that do the cleaning and storing as I am the one that cook.. This will let me know what else is there in the fridge, and I can let my mum know if things are getting lesser.. Anyway, I like doing the grocery or marketing, and once a while, I told my mum I go and buy stuff myself..

Good day cwong77, I am same as you in the sense that after my husband brought back the marketing stuffs, he'll just drop it there and I have to do the cleaning and packing into smaller portions. But I am bad in keeping tract what's there and what's to replenish. Often, my husband has to go through the fridge in order to know what's in there. I am too lazy, when I want to cook, I just open the fridge and grab what is visible! Those at the back will remain and rot!

Its basically a responsibility that can be shared by both. What I feel is that the wife can do it more often than her spouse.I am only 20 and still I everyday go for purchasing everyday items, vegetables and much more .There is nothing to feel insulting in such a case.

I think it all comes down to which is more convenient. the hubs or the wife. As my husband is out and about most of the time, it is just easy for him to drop by any market to get groceries, where else, it will be a hassle for me to leave the house just to go get something. :)

I do the marketing.I go to the fish market and the butchers shop.I know almost all the varieties of fish and how they taste too by years of experience. When I was a kid my mum used to send me to the market to buy vegetables and fish. That experience helps me a lot even now.My wife accompanies me to buy the monthly groceries once in the first week of every month.

Hi balasri, Your wife's a lucky lady. Just as I am a lucky lady too. I guess any lady whose husband can do the groceries are lucky! Your mom has brought you up well and maybe you can train your child to do the same! You know the varieties of fish and their taste, you are really great! Keep it up!

Dear submerryn, First and foremost : Congrats ! You have achieved the 500th post.. Great job Now, you have the license to 'c&p' :) My mum do the shopping for the wet markets - fish, chicken, meat & vegetables. My hubby will provide monthly shopping allowance for her to spend. She will clean all the items and sort it out in smaller packets, then keep in the fridge! This will make cooking easier... I, on the other hand - do the modern shopping in the supermarket. I will purchase fresh milk, yoghurt drink, juices, bread, biscuits, sundries like rice, instant noodles, eggs by swiping the credit cards! All the best and have a nice weekend..Going to 1 Utama again??

Dear Iriene88 It's so nice to have your mom to do the marketing. My mom live far from us, my in laws are also far from us. My husband and I are basically 'alone' here in the city. He does the marketing in the supermarket. I dont think he can survive going to the wet market! I was in 1 Utama yesterday and it was like only half packed, I guess due to the H1N1 scare?

I prefer the wet market.. it's an outing that I will look forward for over the weekend with my mum when I was younger (those school days I could wake up early even on weekend) We have got specific stalls in the wet market to grab quality and reasonable pricing food too.. and after walking around the market, we will then head to the stalls for breakfast! Now even talking about it make me smile..

Hi, I stay with my mother-in-law, she will do all the wet marketing, my wife will do the supermarket-ing...lol What I need to do is EARN money and give them to buy.. On weekends, normally we go out for lunch / dinner! Once in awhile, I do go to the supermarket and shop around for groceries. I love to buy bread and yoghurt :) Tks and cheers!
