When does school start in your area?

It doesn't matter if you are going to college, have kids going to school, or know kids that are going to school. Well down here in Georgia school starts pretty early around the first 2 weeks of August. In my county it starts August 10 which is the second week, but in my cousins' county it starts August 3 the first week. I told my aunt this and she was shocked, seeing as she lives in Maryland and they start school in September. We go back so early since we get out of school in May. I remember living in Colorado and getting out of school in June and going back after labor day. So when does school start in your area?

Is it like a year round school? Are you outside of the USA?

Yes, I'm in England and the schools are open about 39 of the 52 weeks. The school year is split into 3 terms Sept - Christmas; New year to Easter; Easter to mid/late July with up to a week near the middle of each term. There are also extra days for teacher training without pupils. (They used to be called Baker days after the minister who introduced them.)

Wow thats interesting. I don't think any schools in the US start that early unless its college. When do they end the school year? And thanks for sharing. I love hearing about other countries.

hi, i am from the Philippines and school starts here at June...and usually ends by March or April...
for college...yes classes also starts at June for the first semester and for second semester it starts by October...
this is how its going for the whole country...

In west Texas we start the last Monday of August this year. They let us out in May also. I am excited this year because I am student teaching when school starts up.

My daughter's school starts on September 9th this year, here in New Jersey. Her cousins in Puerto Rico start soon. I believe they start in the beginning of August due to the hurricane season.

well, i will start on august 17 and my sister mi start on august 23, i finished on july 10.
