The heat lately has been absolutely unbearable the past couple of days. And the weatherman is predicting more of the same for the next week. I SOOO cannot handle this heat. I haven't cooked a thing in 2 days because I refuse to turn on my stove. We are surviving on salads and sandwhiches. My shower is running almost all day with one of us in a cold shower trying to cool off. My son runs around the house with a cold soaked rag on his head. Thankfully we have wading pools at our local park that the city fills with COLD water from the fire hydrant and our rec center posts lifeguards for the day. My kids have spent every afternoon there. It finally gets bearable about 9 pm. Last night a girlfriend and I went and jumped in the river a couple of times. If anyone has any tips on how to stay just a little bit cooler PLEASE pass them on to me.

Hi imsilver, it gets like this every summer here but I've never known one yet with so constant humidity as this year. The last couple of days it's just floored me and it's hard to bother to eat much. It's made it even worse as the water keeps going off. My advice is to stay inside at the hottest part of the day and don't even think about cooking, just relax in front of the fan and keep drinking plenty of water so you don't dehydrate. I also drink a lot of hot coffee. My son has been sleeping directly on the cold tiles in front of the fan. We usually cool off in the sea late afternoon but the last couple of days it's been too hot to bother with the short drive as there's literally no air. It usually starts to cool down about 3am.

placing bowls of water around the room will cool it. As the water evaporates it leaches heat from the air all the best urban

Currently the weather at my place also very very very hot. I can even dried my cloth at my room, and sometimes even at night I also felt very hot. Moreover, at my palce, there is no air conditioner to make my room cooler and I only depend on the fan and the fan did nothing when the weather become so hot. The only thing that can make me cool? Only taking a bath and get away from my hot room. I guess what people say is right that world temperature is rising now. Ohhhh

Actually I started a whole discussion on this. I live in California in the High Desert where it's miserably hot right now. You've already got some great ideas like taking the kids down to the local pool. Frozen fruit is great way to stay cool as well, it's like having a Popsicle, but less expensive and more nutritious.
