I am sure you all heard about Big Papi testing positive for PEDs in 2003. There is a report out I think it's from the NY Post saying that some lawyers that have knowledge of the 104 players that tested positive in the 2003 voluntary test include David Ortiz & Manny Ramirez. Now Manny we know is a user because he was also caught using this year and was suspended 50 games for it, but Big Papi??? I am shocked! As a die-hard Red Sox fan I am very disappointed and very angry at Big Papi but I still love him. It does not change my opinion about him it just hurts a lot that out of all these players in the MLB his name comes out on that list. I am very, very saddened by all this:-((( How do you guys feel about it?

It must be me. I don't care who uses steroids and who doesn't.I haven't heard that these pills help your eyesight.A play Still has to see the ball to hit it.I am a member of Red Sox Nation and when I heard the news about Big Papi,I wasn't angry or disappointed because of what Big Papi said. He will check why he failed and will tell us. He isn't lying by saying he Never took anything, like Bonds and Clemens. That 's all you can ask for.

I feel the same way. At this point I do not care about steroids. We do not really know how much they help you because like you said you still gotta see the ball, hit the ball and make the right decision on the play. However, I feel angry because like I said above if you remember from training camp this season Big Papi was asked about steroids and he said something like I would not do something like that to my body or my family. I know a lot of people did not believe him but I did and with his name coming out now I feel like he betrayed us. He should have told the truth or not commented at all, I just feel like he lied to us now. Hopefully he addresses the issue soon so we can move on with this thing! Go Sox!

I am not that upset because whenever they are asked about steroids,I don't listen to their answers.I really don't care.I wouldn't mind if they had a steroid machine in the locker room. There is more to winning a baseball game than strength.

Big Papi - David Américo Ortiz Arias - David Américo Ortiz Arias (born November 18, 1975 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) is a Major League Baseball designated hitter who has played for the Boston Red Sox since 2003.
I would like to give him the benefit of doubt that perhaps he just made a mistake. Maybe it was Manny pressure, or maybe he just tried it? I haven't heard his side of the story so for now, I hope he has some kind of reasonable explanation .?. I really like Big Papi, Manny well he's been allowed too much "Manny being Manny" time and now he has been caught and paid for his crime. I also was shocked and saddened at first but have decided to wait until I hear his side before jumping to conclusions. Brightest blessings from South of Boston, Mari

I agree with you on the waiting part. He has not offered an explanation yet as to what happened and what he tested positive for so I agree with giving him the benefit of the doubt until he does address the issue. However, I also do not like waiting. According to the league all those 104 people that tested positive in 2003 were notified by the league that they tested positive for PEDs. Why didn't these players come forward at that time? I love Ortiz and I know he's going to make things right I just cannot believe that he lied to us. He mentioned it many times during training camp that he would never do such a thing and now this comes out. Why didn't he let everyone know like hey I made a mistake this is what I took or just say that I tested positive for smth. He didn't think his name was going to come out? When A-Rods name came out none of those players on that list should have felt safe that their name was not going to come out. They should have all come forward and said something. I don't know I guess I'm just upsed that David did not tell the truth, I'm sure he knew what he was taking. I just hope that now he comes out and tells the truth and explains why he didn't come forward before. Anyways thanks for the reply & Go Sox!
