Just had a flat tire! Breaking down is not new to me, seems sometimes it's my life. So anyway we got the spare tire on there and I am safely at home. But I don't want to be home, I've got things to do! How far are those tires supposed to go? I know its for an emergency and we're getting new tires first of the week. But can I just go to the store a couple miles away?
Has anyone every kept a spare on for a long time?

Generally spare tires are only meant to be traveled on for short distances, and not at very high speeds, just long enough to get you somewhere where you can get your fill-sized tire fixed.
Most car places won't reccomend really driving more than like 40 miles on a donut, as they are not made for that kind of wear and tear. For the same reasons, they also don't reccomend going over 45 miles per hour on them. If you are getting it replaced the first part of next week, you should be fine to run to the store a couple of times, as long as it isn't too far. Just take it easy, especially on turns and don't go too fast.
I actually kept a donut on my car for a couple of weeks onc, as i coudln't afford a new tire until payday. I just limited my driving to work and back (which is only a mile down the road for me) and a few needed errands such as grocery shopping and getting gas.
Best of luck, and hope this helps.
