Faceing East?

Why do we all face east in Church? Christian churches are build east-west with the altar to the east. This means that the congregation face east - the direction of the rising Sun.

There is a Muslim belief that one should face toward Mecca when one prays. That does not mean that one faces east or west. The direction depends on where one is in the world. There is a tradition amoung Jews to pray facing Jerusalem. The same holds true here it depends on where one is in the world. It is not considered mandatory. It is just a tradition. As far as christians go, most of the time their churches are built facing east to catch the morning sun in the stained glass windows for morning services. Shalom~Adoniah
