What is Armageddon according to bible?

Hi All, Recently while i was going through Bible i saw word armageddon also heard from some of my friends about it. They say it as end of world. Is it really mean that or is it taken differently from what it is written in bible.

From what I know it means the end of the world as we know it. In fact, Armageddon is only the name of the field where the ultimate battle between the forces of good and evil will take place. It comes from the name of Meghido, an ancient Hebrew battle field.
