do u think arjun singh is right in reserving seats for the backward classes even in institutes like IIT's and IIM's? i dont think so.please respond to this discussion

I think that their should be financial assistance to poor and it should not be based on religion,caste,race etc.Also one should provide all the basic education for all for free.Then depending on that who ever does well should be given the oppurtunity might be it in IIT's or IIM's or any other institutes or any other feilds.One can give reservations to handicapped as it would be difficult for them to compete with normal fellows.

Reserving seats for meritous students in the lower income group I think is ok. Maybe the government or some well off people can sponsor them. But I definitely do not think it is right to reserve seats for children simply based on their caste. It's not fair on the others. It's not their fault that they were born into the particular caste. Reservation of seats should be purely on merit.
