Does anyone make rug yarn anymore? I have a skein or two from my mom but Orange is not the color I want to work with nor will it get me very far. I saw a great project some time ago for a crochet rug and we are in need of a new rug for our living room so I thought why not. But where to locate the materials. I looked on Joann's & all they have are hook kits that you'd make into a pillow or wall haning or something like that. Michaels had a pattern or two but it used Lily's Peaches'n cream wich I don't know will work for my project or it would bee tooo thin or ??? The only other craft place around here is Wal-mart and that's it w/o hitting a fancy specialty shop if I even knew of one. any suggestions?

well, you might check for Aunt Lydia's rug yarn - or here's a site to help you know what you need http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-rug-yarn.htm

Check with the Lion's brand on their website? I really haven't had a chance to look to see what they have.....but I haven't seen rug yarn around in a long time. I made a rug once...crocheting it but I cut strips of cloth (actually rags) and sewed them together and used that and made a round rag rug....it was so pretty! That might be an alternative....I think the peaches and cream might not hold up.
