Real Madrid won't buy Alonso because they probably don't have any cash left... if they (R Madrid) were to show any real interest in Alonso, I think it'll be hard for Alonso to turn them down, considering all the players that Real Madrid have recently bought. If Real keep paying huge amounts of cash for players, they won't have a football club before the end of the season...

i did not agree with you. i believe real madrid president is so ambitious so he never think about the team need. i think madrid now need a good back not midfielder or forward. madrid is so easily lose because never get a great centre back

According to me,Liverpool are asking to high a price for a player who,in the last, season was not even in the starting line-up in the last season.Javier Masscerano got more of the midfield place than Xabi Alonso. Real Madrid should instead sign players like Daniel De Rossi from Roma or Mathiew Flamini from Milan or even they can go for Michael Essein..

can't believe you would think that Flamini is in the same league as Alonso.

Xavi Alonso is a good business conducted by Rafa...$30 million is a good sale. With the money, Liverpool managed to get Aquilani, another gem in the midfield. With Lucas deputising, I think Liverpool can be a major force in the English Premier League this year.

Can live with losing macherano or alonso, not both, if it means that Liverpool can buy someone like David Villa. With Villa in the team Gerrard can drop back slightly giving Mascherano or Alonso the defensive duties.

Hi adhyz82, Xabi is a main player for Liverpool and I don't think Rafa will let him go easily. But if Real Madrid can meet the asking price, Xabi will go and Rafa will have a budget to spend. Rafa already looking for someone to replace Xabi if he have to leave. Among them is Silva. And they are the same class. Rafa will only change his formation if he can't buy player that have same position with Xabi. Gerrard will have to play more as a central midfielder. Rafa may go for 2 striker.

Xabi's departure will definitely hurt us, but I think Lucas will improve this season and fill the gap, also with Alberto Aquilani coming in should be good enough to replace Xabi. I just hope he can stay injury free and at last a premier league title after 19 years!
