As against the bills being considered for "The Public Option" as I am, if I was a proponent of Universal Health Care, I'd be just plain pissed. The Central Committee is paying lip service to single payer healthcare, but loading the bills with everything but. They are arguing in general terms, but voting for specific language. Why? If you are a proponent of universal health care, does it bother you that Obama, Pelosi and Reid are squandering this opportunity to bring it about? They make it so easy for the opponents. All we have to do is read the bill and point out the huge problems. Before the bills were drafted, they said that they wanted to make the Federal Employees medical coverage available to all... What they are giving us is a program that members of Congress don't even want for themselves. We heard arguments using Canada, The UK, and several nations of Europe as shining examples... but they are giving us something that isn't patterned after either of them. Why do they have to include language requiring us to disclose financial and medical records to government bureaucrats? Why do they ban employers from offering incentives to choose private insurance coverage? Why do they want to control "birth intervals" for mothers? If I was a proponent of universal healthcare, I would be feeling completely swindled by Obama, Pelosi and Reid. My question to those of you who are for universal health care... why aren't you?

I am against it. But I have to tell you they can't blame the republicans this time. The blue dog democrats are the one who sunk the ship this time. Supporters were mad when Hilary as First Lady failed to bring it about. And now this time they will be mad too. ONly this time they can blame members of their own party for it. Personally I am glad. I DO NOT want a single payer system.
