Surprise Surgery

Have you ever had a surprise surgery? You go to the hospital or doctor's complaining of a pain, hoping to get a pill or something, and in the end you need a surgery? Well, I've just got home from one of those... I have had an IUD for over a year now (plus my hubby was fixed long before my youngest son was concieved). A couple days ago I started having pains in my lower abdomen, and I started bleeding even though I shouldn't have been. I saw my regular doctor and she assumed my IUD had moved, and scheduled me some appointments for later in the week to see someone about it. Well last night the pain got a lot worse, so I went to the ER. At first the ER doc thought the same thing, but the results of my urine test said that I was pregnant, which I honestly didn't believe was possible! They did an ultrasound to find out that my IUD was still in place, but the pregnancy was eptopic. I had to have surgery! The doctor removed the pregnancy, the IUD and completely cut out both of my falopian tubes. I am home and resting now.

It does seem that many surprise surgeries have to do with ovaries, uterus , and the like. I was going to Mexico with a couple of friends in 2006 and I had a very small pain in my abdomen for some time. As my friend´s work is ecotomography I told him to see me with his machine before we took the plane. He checked me the next day and pronounced "surgery". I said "after Mexico?" and he replied NOW. We ended up in Mexico 3 minths later: I had an ovarian tumor about 2 pountsI had the luck that it was benign and my friend (almost a brother to me) got me a doctor in whom he could trust. He could have done it but wanted the eyes of an oncologist just in case. It´s a blessing to have such friends!

I am so sorry that this happened to you. Eptopic peganacies are very dangerous. I do wish you a speedy recovery and take great care of yourself. surgery is still surgery and you need time to recover. I know that your husband will take great care of you and your older children can help. God bless.

Oh, that’s why I think I did not see you here for a few days…anyways I am sure you all are glad that its over. Since the doctors have removed the fallopian tubes, you are relieved on this issue, at least…so sudden and ectopic pregnancies for you. I’m sure your hubby would go for a test himself…in the meantime, take rest, recover fast, be good to the kids and keep posting.

We knew hubby's vasectomy hadn't worked because my last child was concieved after he was supposed to have been fixed, but that's why I had the IUD.

I have had surgery 2 times in my life and both times I knew it was coming. We already talked a bit about this on Facebook, but I wanted to comment here anyway. I really hope you do get a chance to rest up a bit and take it easy. I am sure that most of the kids will understand enough that you had surgery (even if you do not tell them everything) and they need to be on their best behavior.

They've been acting up quite a bit lately, and nothing is making them behave! It's mostly the twins lately, just so full of energy and not making any attempts to control it at times. I had to bring them to the ER with me since hubby was still at work when I went in from all the pain. You'd assume they'd behave there, but nope. They were wild and acting crazy. I'd left hubby a note and when he got there I told him to just take them all home!! I didn't see him again until I was ready to leave the hospital after the surgery, and the kids still weren't any better.

My daughter has been a major stinker lately and I have to struggle to keep my sanity with her. I can't imagine being in the kind of pain you were before or after the surgery and having to deal with 5 kids. Even if only 2 of them were really acting up. Hope you are feeling a little bit better today.

Aydan has been a completely different child since the kids have been home on summer break. He's now finally used to them being home, but he's not gone back to being the sweet little angel he used to be, he's just off the walls and demanding and being a major spoiled brat!! He may be starting school this fall himself, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I can't wait to see how great life will be when it's just me and Mathieu during the day!

I have had more than a few surgeries. The only unexpected one was my emergency c-section. And that was scary enough. I am really sorry, that must have been frightening. Glad you are home and resting.

I've been wondering where you've been. I hope you have s speedy recovery. SO with this surgery does this mean you are now "fixed" especially since hubby's didn't work? I bet since they are not behaving well that you are like me looking forward to school starting so you can have some peace again & I mean "some" When I hear of babies like your youngest being born after hubby's get snipped make me nervious. But we've been fine for 18 mos & his count came back @ 0.

I've had both fallopian tubes REMOVED so hopefully that does mean I am fixed!! But with my luck, as I said, I'll probably still manage to get pregnant again, lol!

Wow, that's awful, I hope you feel better soon. Something in this world just wants you to get pregnant, doesn't it?

Tell me about it! I just couldn't believe it, and the fricken IUD was still in place, so I'm stumped as to how it happened. You'd think if the IUD just wasn't going to work it would have happened sooner as I've had the darn thing a year and a half. Just crazy! I'm wondering how long before I end up pregnant again, even though I no longer have either of my fallopian tubes. Knowing me, it will happen!

OH WOW, Well I hope you get well soon, that must have been a scary suprise to you ! I had surgery myself not to long ago, also a complete suprise as I had went to AZ to be with my Dad who had to have a stent set into the vein of his leg, the night before I was in so much Pain that I had to ask my Dad to take me to the ER, SUPRISE ! My Gall bladder was full of stones and infected it had to be removed right away so I was admitted. Everything went well and all worked out fine. My Dad and I recovered together.

I had my gall bladder out about a year ago, but I scheduled that surgery. I dealt with it for 2 years before planning the surgery.
