Open or Closed MRI?

I had to have an MRI done on my neck the other day and being extremly clausterphobic I chose to have an open MRI. I personally think that the name is very misleading here floks. The machine is more open on the sides but that Hannibal Lecter head gear they strap you into is far worse in my opinion than being in the tube. Also why do they feel they need to back the foam pads aroubnd you like you are being Fedexed somewhere. I tried 3 times to go through wiht the scan in that thing and then thankfully it broke and they sent me to the closed MRI where I was unrestrained and had headphones (which you don't get in the open one) and a man with a greatly claming voice talking to me and my favorite raio station playing in the back ground the whole time. Still not fun but I was able to breath through it and was ok, this was not going to happen in the other one. OH YEAH and the closed MRI is way faster than the open one so you're out of there sooner. I want your opinions on these tests. Which would you rather have? Also any stories would be appreciated if you are in the sharing mood.

I've never had an open MRI. I don't mind closed spaces, I have trouble with that whole being still thing LOL

Yeah holding still is something I struggle with as well. Thanks for posting.
