Going in for the blessed colonoscopy today, rah. I'll spare you the details, but I'm hungry, I'm thirsty, I'm not looking forward to the experience. Can I be 30 again? What do you all do to pass the time when you're (not so) eagerly anticipating something like this?

anything, everything to keep my mind off it as much as possible.
perhaps a craft of some kind.
when i had my reconstruction,i was a bag of nerves beforehand.
my least favorite was the "no fluids after 10".
not eating is no problem, but nothing in the morning, not even water sucks.

yes it does! I went for a walk this morning before the procedure and all I could do afterwards was put some water to moisten my mouth and then spit it out!

awwww, I'm sorry. U could be dumb like me & just not have them. It is nerve wracking to have to wait on something like that. Staying busy doing anything helps me when i have a dread like that. I do good cleaning then.I hope everything turns out well w.your test.

I'm yet to have one of these but I hear the liquid they make you drink is sensational!
Passing the time sure is a challenge 'cos you aren't able to pass anything else right now are ya? Hmmmmm, have you considered star jumps while trying to balance a live poodle on your head?

Well hopefully by now it's over for you....man I hate the anticipation of going to the doctor....makes me nerves so I try to keep my hands as well as my mind occupied. So doing something totally mindless like crocheting is a good activity ....counting etc. LOL...good luck! Hope everything come out alright! LOL

haha
The IV and the gas pains afterwards were the worst of it. Oh yeah, and that nasty stuff I had to drink yesterday!

I was just like you before mine
concerned
Try thnking what you were doing the same time the day before
then tell yourself that at the same tomorrow it will all be over. That's all I can come up with. I didn't have much other alternatives when I had mine because I was having other, even worse stuff, done at the time as I was in hospital
Good luck!

hi dawnald when I had my colonoscopy it was a piece of cake, I was almost asleep didnt feel anything, didnt hurt and was back in the recovery room in just a short while. done by competent people its nothing to worry about. over the y ears I have had two, and it was worth it to know I was free of cancer or any polys, oh I have diverticulitis but thousands of people have it and dont even know it so that no problem. but the only grim part for me was the stuff you had to take to clean you out,now that was grisly, I practically stayed in the bathroom for hours the night before but still managed to poop on the floor. but the procedure itself is quick and painless so dont fret it at all.

The stuff you have to drink is nasty, but tolerable. I'm glad I worked from home that afternoon though. The procedure was fine too. The only thing that was nasty other than the needle (for the IV) was the gas pains afterwards. But that only lasted for less than an hour, so not too awful. then I slept all afternoon. lol

You know I went through this about 3 weeks ago, I just kept telling myself by tomorrow this will all be over. I hate to tell you but this time is took my poor bod a week to get back in good working condition. Hang in there and I hope you have good news like I did. Pat

I am sorry that you are going to go through this. I am supposed to be having one but I am terrified of doing so. I think that you are very brave to do it. Let me know how it goes. I am saying some serious prayers for you and that all will be well.
What would I do? don't you have to live on the toilet for a few days or something? I expect that I would have a lot of reading material to distract me but mostly I would pray. Seriously, prayer has helped me all of my life. God Bless and let me know how it went and yes, I do want to hear all the pooey details!Mostly, I want to know that you are o.k.

It's not so bad. The day before at lunch you give up solid food and have to eat only broth and clear jello. You can't drink certain juices, milk or red liquids. About 2 PM you start drinking a gallon of this nasty tasting stuff that clears your colon out. Dinner is the same as lunch, no fluids after midnight. The next day they put you under and you wake up with nasty gas cramps that last about an hour. Unless they find something (they didn't), that's all there is to it...

) now and feeling comfy again. I would probably just read a book
