How Would You Handle and Emergency?

If you ran into an emergency where you needed an extra $300, what would do? Sell your plasma? Sell your belongings? Offer people a massage on craigs list, or go to pay-day loans? Just curious. Have you ever had an emergency where you needed extra funds, what happened? I'm just curious because there is a certain someone in my life that is constantly having these emergencies. It seems he shows up every few years asking for a loan, which doesn't pay back. So give me some advice that I can pass along.

I'm not sure what I would do. I suppose that if it were my family at stake I would do what ever I could.

Ah the friend that I have doesn't have a family, perhaps that is why he lets himself end up in these situations over and over again. But what would you do... if you really needed the money, where would you turn first? Would it be to a friend or family member, or would you try to raise the funds yourself first?

I would try firstly to raise it myself and then I would ask some one close to me, but it wouldn't be a parent. I have to much pride for that lol.

Im not sure what I would do though. I'd probably just sell some of my stuff if I could.

Selling plasma takes a little longer than people would like. You have to go back more than once to get paid the full amount. I've never done it, but I know a lot of college students who have. So that's a recommendation. The person could also have a garage sale. If they don't have a place for one, maybe a friend of theirs could let them use their yard.

I'd say that's a good policy to adopt. It would be unfair of that person to keep asking. You're not a bank.

I think that is perhaps the direction in which I will point my friend. I hate to turn away a friend in need, but I think he prob. owes me around 1,000 already, and I know he doesn't intend to ever pay me back. Because of him I've adopted a new policy. Never loan money to someone who already owes you money.

i have done all of this and more. sometimes you can have a yard sale and be surprised what you make with old stuff you can give up. i've sold plasma in my youth many times to buy food. thats how poor i was till my last hubby came along. tell your friend to do all this. i usually didnt have anyone to borrow from.
