Changing the name of EDSA to Cory Aquino Avenue?

I dont think its necessary to change Edsa to Cory Aquino because i believe that naming a certain area has given a contribution to the country which Eprifanio de los Santos did. We can show the greatness of Cory in some other ways, if not for renaming edsa to her name, why not choose another road which does not have a name like C5 road and tuned it to Corazon Aquino Road so that it will be remembered always.

They do that here too to remeber famos people!

hello fatherblogger, In my own opinion, I think it's not proper to change EDSA to Cory Aquino Avenue for one thing EDSA might contributed something good that's why they named it to her/him. For sure if President Cory is still alive she will not agree too. Maybe some other street or place that is named like fruit but not deleting other people's name. Truly she deserves to have one but it's much better if they can not hurt other people's feelings.

I will also go for it. If the people would also like the suggestion, then why not. The Aquinos poved themselves how worthy they were so it's not a bad idea to honor... If that will come through, you will be taking a bus from Monumento, Cory Aquino Avenue in Caloocan if you are going to take a plane for Cebu, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. LOL

The name EDSA is a hallowed name in our history and it stands a lot for every democracy and freedom loving individuals. Changing it will not only tarnished all that it stands for but also dishonor the name of Cory. Let me just remind everyone that wants it to be changed that the reason why we have Cory, democracy and freedom from dictatorship is because of EDSA and the very ideals that it stands for. Without EDSA there was no Cory. without Edsa, the spirit of ninoy aquino will be in vain. These heroes have honored the name of EDSA through their life, their service and their example and if they are alive today they would never approve such. If we really want to honor Cory, we either name other places for her or better yet live our life like responsible citizens of this country and live the ideals that she and EDSA stood for.

and what happened if there's another person who becomes a hero like cory? do we need to change it again? why do we keep doing this to streets and roads, tourist are gonna get lost for sure.I know that she has done a lot but certainly we can name other places in honor of her name. doesn't have to be Edsa because people gotten used to it's name.

Well what do we do with Epifanio De Los Santos then? It was named after him and I think he deserves to be named after him. Well there are many ways to honor her name and memory but replacing a name of a historical landmark would also be kind of an insult to the memory of the person that that road was named after. We may put a landmark, a statue along EDSA and I think that is already a good tribute for her memory to live on.

Its okay, they even made the January 25 a Cory Aquino day. I hope there is no work at that time, I mean I hope it is a Holiday. It is fine with me if they will change the name to Cory Aquino, but bear in mind that it is not only her that made a full sacrifice during Edsa Revolution.

I don't think that is necessary... since EDSA should always be EDSA even if we do not know who Epifanio De Los Santos is or what he did for our country... the name EDSA in itself is already historical... with all the important events that happened there... and for sure Cory Aquino will not like that... I think it is enough to make her a National Hero and to always remember what she did for our country...

It all depends.. If one is really good and did alot of changes, influence on the country, it might be a good idea for use their name for a road name.. However, her contribution has got to be very great and that she has never done anything wrong during her times as president or whatever.. Just like in singapore, it was Sir stanford Raffles whom founded singapore, and thus we had a place named after him.. haha =D

hmmm. It will be ok to change the name, in all honesty i don't know what epifanio had done to our country in general. But i guess one of the problem will be the changing of some historical events. like the EDSA revolution, it will probably be changed to COry Aquino Ave. revolution. lol I guess with or without the cory aquino avenue, she will still be remembered. Maybe they can name other things or places in memory of her. Like Cory Aquino railway. things like that.

I honestly don't know who Epiphanio de los Santos is. But we might be deleting also a memory of another good Filipino. Cory wouldn't like that. Let the legislators make a study on that. They must have more work to do than just prepare for the elections. As for Cory's memory, I think the history books will preserve her better. If there is a Rizal Course, then maybe we can incorporate a Cory Course. After all, her theory of non-violence worked for the entire world.

Cory Aquino is an icon of democracy. He deserves a lot of honors and tributes but I think that it is not necessary to rename EDSA to Cory Aquino Avenue. EDSA played a great role in the history of our country. It has witnessed a lot of rallies and it's also a symbol of our democracy. EDSA's name should not be changed also because even if it will not be name after Cory, her name will be forever etched with EDSA because it's where it all began.
